Job purpose

Groom Construction Co, Inc. is seeking a Dump Truck Driver to join their Salem office! This position requires driving, controlling, and maintaining trucks equipped with dump body to transport and unload materials needed for assignments in a safe, efficient manner. Drivers will work in a fast-paced, physically intense environment. Safety is a top priority for drivers and must have knowledge of safe operation, rules of the road, and abide by DOT safety requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

Physical Labor at construction projects

Transport and dump loose or other construction materials.

Performs daily inspection of equipment for issues and/or deficiencies.

Notifies the Project Manager or Superintendent of any issues/defects.

When not driving, will assist the crew as needed.

Adheres to all DOT safety requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

No less than two years of experience driving a dump truck or other big rig. (required)

Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license with clean driving record. (required)

Massachusetts DOT Medical Card (required)

Work schedule and conditions

The work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00am until 3:30pm with potential for overtime after hours or on weekends according to company needs.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors where there is exposure to extreme heat or cold conditions.

May work in cramped spaces, and frequent lifting, standing, and kneeling can be tiring. Those who work outdoors are subject to variable weather conditions.

Physical requirements

Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform related duties and responsibilities of this job, such as lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment and/or objects.

Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 25-50 pounds without assistance.

Prolonged sitting depending on the distance from the corporate office to the job site.

Prepared to work in all weather and must be prepared for extreme heat or cold.

Ability to complete assigned tasks timely and effectively deal with the public courteously and respectfully.

Travel Requirements

Potential for traveling out of state 30-50%
