Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for NAVSEA Ford Class CVN78 Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM)

· Provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), and Nuclear Liaison Action Request (NLAR)

· Address technical issues with ship modernization efforts executed via Ship Change Documents (SCDs) and support development of new SCDs

· Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP, Newport News Shipbuilding, & other activities

· Review Government Furnished Information (GFI) packages for delivery to Newport News Shipbuilding

· Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide written technical recommendations

· Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit written proposals for changes

Qualifications:

· (Required) Must have DOD Secret Clearance

· (Required) BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering from an accredited university.

· (Required) 3 to 5 years’ experience.

· (Required) Experience with shipboard mechanical systems.

· (Required) Experience with US Navy, USCG or MSC vessels

· (Desire) Preferably experience with aircraft carriers

· (Requirement) Good technical writing and communication skills
