Adler Pelzer Group - a growing global Tier 1 supplier of Acoustic and Thermal Soft Trim products to the automotive industry is seeking for a strong and motivated individual to fill the position of Business Unit (BU) Engineering Manager at its Troy Michigan, Regional Headquarters.

The BU Engineering Manager demonstrates leadership in communicating Industrial Engineering (IE) requirements in tooling, equipment, and materials utilizing experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives IE group and integrate IE with launch objectives, to effect short-term and long-term Business Unit goals.

Responsibilities of the BU Engineering Manager include:

Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned organizational responsibilities, programs, and personnel.

Provide support counsel and recommendations to Chief Operating Officer, Program Management, and Plant Personnel.

Promote technical excellence within own section and support groups through design / technical review participation, lessons learned awareness and application, and technical innovation.

Establish / modify / monitor overall engineering program requirements, timing, and resources of Industrial Engineering and support groups to meet or exceed business unit objectives and goals.

Understand equipment and facility capacity and capabilities in conjunction with Plant Management and local Engineering staff.

Effectively communicate technical and financial aspects of section activities vertically and horizontally in the organization.

Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority over Engineers for planning, organization, control, integration, execution of, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility, including transfer of skills to the local level.

Oversees product and process design for compliance with engineering principles, organization standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

Tracks and reviews the reports and status of each team member.

Anticipates problems and forms remediation plans before the project suffers.

Addresses all issues that need immediate action and attention.

Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.

Directs integration of technical activities and products.

Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.

Prepares interim and completion project reports.

Looks for ways to continually improve the process.

Runs team and other project meetings. Requirements for the BU Engineering Manager:

Minimum of an Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering Degree or equivalent in experience.

Five – Ten years experience in manufacturing preferably in automotive interior trim and systems.

Knowledge of equipment and processes such as Robotics, Water Jets, Molding (Hot & Cold), Injection Molding using Krauss Maffai and Engle equipment, and carpet molding, used in the acoustics industry.

Knowledge in design of equipment, continuous improvement, and Design FMEA.

Excellent communication skills (verbal/written).

Excellent computer skills for project management including MS Project, Excel and Word

Knowledge in design software such as AutoCad, Catia & Spinfire.

Excellent organizational skills.

The ability to lead personnel within the department.

The ability to multi-task.

Excellent researching skills.

Salary range is $135,000- $150,000. Specific salary is commensurate with experience and factors such as relevant experience, education, certifications and licenses, skills, and training.
