Our Distributel team is looking to hire a Dev Ops Monitoring Administrator.

Distributel, is part of Internet Companies Group (ICG), a division of Bell Canada serving both consumer and business needs across Canada.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting directly to the Manager, Dev Ops Monitoring Administrator and Analytics Specialist is primarily responsible for proactive Event Management of ICG's voice and data services. Roles include the maintenance, trouble shooting, functionality, reliability, training/documentation, and expansion of the integrated network-monitoring suite of performance monitoring tools. The Dev Ops Monitoring Administrator is required to collect, correlate, report faults, identify events and trends, evaluate and correct service performance monitoring issues. This position is also responsible for service monitoring statistical analysis and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure that ICG's Canada's Network Monitoring environment is pro-actively, effectively, and efficiently monitored and maintained.

Capturing the performance of all network and customer elements to ensure that trouble events will be immediately identified and addressed by NOCC and support agents.

Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning!

Manage network servers and technology tools.

Participate in troubleshoot issues and outages.

Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This job handles different tasks at a time with competing priorities.

The incumbent of this position is an individual contributor and is not responsible for leading or supervising others.

The decisions made in this job have a considerable effect on the operations at the organizational level and significant at the department level.

Requires specialized skills, technical knowledge and understanding of principles and complex techniques including operating technical equipment.

Supporting- provides interpretive or other supporting services for use by others. It generally assesses alternatives and options to support operations.

This position may involve responsibility for providing training and work guidance to others within the work unit, or while continuing to perform the normal day to day activities of the position.

Hours of work: Usual business hours / occasional after hours or weekend support will be required.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY USED:

Basic computer skills with Windows and Linus OSNagios, Zabbix, PRTG and Spectrum Monitoring tools

Cisco, Juniper, Ericsson network gear / Fortinet and Pulse VPN solution

Metaswitch and SBC for voice solution

Cloud and docker environment for TV Solution

Cloud Storage solution

CREDENTIALS:

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required

3 years of Systems Administration or Analysis Experience (Unix/Linux) is must.

Must have strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.

Must have In-depth knowledge of Monitoring tool and SNMP.

Must have Familiar with Cisco and Juniper Network devices (Routers, Switches)

Must have basic skills with PowerShell, Bash, Perl, PHP, Python and Groovy Scripting Languages

Must have skills of Web server configurations (Apache, Nginx, IIS, Tomcat)

Nice to have experience working with Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix, PRTG is must.

Nice to be Familiar with HP, Dell and Cisco server hardware.

Nice to have with APM monitoring solutions (Dynatrace, AppDynamics) highly recommended.

Nice to have experience with synthetic web transaction monitoring solutions (Uptrends, Solarwinds).

Nice to have skills with ELK stacks (Elasicsearch, Logstash and Kibana)

Must have working Knowledge of SSL certificate provisioning and management.

Must have working knowledge of – MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus.

Nice to have CompTIA Linux+ or LPIC-1/2 certification / RHCSA certification.

Nice to have PCEP™ – Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer certification.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal English, as you’ll deal with technically minded employees and non-technical colleagues alike.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Solid Linux skills are required for this position.

Experience with Logstash configuration for log parsing, filtering, and enrichment.

Proficient in Kibana for data visualization, dashboard creation, and advanced analytics. ((Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana)

Experience with PowerShell, Bash, Perl, PHP, Python and Groovy Scripting Languages

Familiarity with monitoring and logging best practices and tools, log management and analytics.

Solid understanding on Infrastructure and Application observability

Develop and maintain modern monitoring solutions.

Experience with Synthetic monitoring platform (Uptrends, Datadog, New Relic).

Understanding of Web server configurations (Apache, Nginx, IIS, Tomcat)

Understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and data protection mechanisms.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Installing, configuring, and maintaining network management software and hardware.

Monitoring network performance, including traffic, bandwidth, and devices.
