Role:

The Nursing Standards Director is the corporate expert and primary resource for management regarding all facets of nursing practice standards. S/he is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, evaluating and leading the activities and development strategies of nursing standards throughout the Organization.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred

Current Florida license as RN, current active single-state out-of-state nurse license, or current active multistate/compact nurse license

Minimum of ten (10) years’ nursing/direct patient care experience

Minimum of seven (7) years of nursing leadership experience at the manager or director level

Two (2) years’ hospice or home health experience preferred

Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross. Employees hired prior to 12/31/2022 must obtain certificate prior to 10/1/2023

Hospice & Palliative Care Nursing Certification required or will obtain within 2 years

Mobile Driver – Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policy. Ability to travel off-site to meet business needs

Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission standards, AHCA and Conditions of Participation

Comprehensive knowledge of nursing standards and regulations

In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practice, research utilization and professional development principles

Knowledgeable about information technologies related to clinical practice

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and to effectively handle the emotional stress of the workload

Strong interpersonal, collaboration and conflict resolution skills

Job Responsibilities:

Plans for, identifies, develops and puts in place practices, programs, and structures to improve the quality, safety, effectiveness and consistency of the Organization’s system of providing nursing care.

Develops and establishes nursing care policies and procedures to ensure delivery of best standards of practice and regulatory compliance.

Works with medical staff to help ensure a smooth integration of nursing and medical practices.

Ensures regular audits and reviews of nursing processes and practices are conducted and reported.

Provides expert interpretation of nursing policies, guidelines, processes, procedures, standards and regulations for management and staff.

Assesses nursing developmental needs collaboratively with the Chief Compliance Officer, Vice President-Clinical Services and Executive Directors; plans programs and processes for identified needs.

Implements an effective, ongoing program to measure and assess the quality of nursing care; identifies risks and prioritizes areas for improvement; recommends solutions.

Serves as a nursing resource for complex clinical cases.

Performs other duties as assigned.
