Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist, the doctoral intern provides brief (short-term) counseling with a range of assessments (as appropriate to their experience), interventions, and case management for individuals, couples, and groups using psycho-educational and therapeutic counseling methods. These services are provided to assist students and their dependents to achieve effective personal, social and educational development. May perform other related tasks that are a part of the agency's operation.

Primary Responsibilities

Provides Crisis Counseling and conducts brief assessments with students who walk in.

Conducts intake interviews with students who request counseling services and completes the required clinical documentation via our electronic recordkeeping system.

Provides individual and group counseling to students on a scheduled basis or through crisis intervention.

Provides clinical supervision to an undergraduate practicum student and maintains supervision notes.

Provides outreach workshops and lectures to campus community.

Maintains up-to-date clinical documentation via an electronic recordkeeping system.

Consults with supervisors and staff as needed.

Acts as a campus resource on psychology and represents Counseling and Psychological Services in the university community.

Acts as a liaison between client and campus or community resources as needed.

Provides consultation to staff, faculty, and parents seeking assistance with troubled students or those with serious mental health issues.

Attends training seminars, staff meetings and supervision on a weekly basis and in a prompt manner.

Represents the department and division at public relations events as requested.

Interacts with staff and students in a professional and ethical manner.

Participates in supervision and training with an openness to learning and receiving feedback.

Utilizes psych diagnostic assessment procedures and psychometric methods to facilitate psychotherapy as needed.

Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, performs psychological evaluations for ADHD, learning disorders, and related referral.

Performs additional job-related duties and responsibilities as requested.

Education

Enrolled in an accredited doctoral of psychology program.

Work Experience

2-3 years

Approximate starting hourly rate: $19.00 - $20.00. The wage offered could be above or below range based on education and experience as it relates to the job description
