WHO WE ARE:

Red Wine & Blue is a national community of diverse suburban women working together to defeat extremism, one friend at a time (best explained by this Washington Post profile, ‘Blue’ suburban moms are mobilizing to counter conservatives and this NYT episode of “The Daily,” Why Suburban Women Changed Their Minds). We are seeking a full-time, experienced People Operations Manager to join our team. The People Operations Manager will play a key role in supporting RWB employees and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

WHO YOU ARE: You are someone who is described as reliable, trustworthy and organized. You excel at managing the early stages of talent recruitment, orchestrating smooth onboarding experiences and serving as a trusted resource for people and operations inquiries. From meticulous financial and employee record-keeping to handling the nitty-gritty like scheduling, travel bookings, and sorting purchase orders - even signs, stickers, and totes - you've got it covered. Your empathetic approach shines through in your interactions with staff and you are seen as a trusted point of contact. Your passion for fostering a positive and productive workplace culture is evident in every task you tackle and your playful spirit adds a touch of fun to getting things done.

This role does not directly supervise any team member(s), reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is a full-time position that can be performed from anywhere in one of 12 current operating states (GA, IA, IL, MI, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TX, VA) and Washington, D.C. Occasional travel is required for in-person meetings and all-staff gatherings.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

RECRUITMENT & ONBOARDING

Manage the early stages of the recruitment life cycle, including posting open positions, managing candidate inquiries, conducting initial phone screens and managing the internal logistics of the hiring process

Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding with team leads to ensure a smooth transition for new employees

Partner with hiring managers to develop job descriptions, recruitment strategies, and candidate evaluation criteria.

Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits

FINANCE & PAYROLL

Review staff reimbursements for accuracy and approval, ensuring proper budget line items are used

Assist in organizing and maintaining basic budget and finance spreadsheets

Oversee the submission and timely approval by managers of semi-monthly timesheets

Manage the reconciliation and actualization of credit card statements to ensure accurate financial records and compliance

Assist the COO in the administration of employee compensation and benefits

PEOPLE OPERATIONS

Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing timely and effective resolution and escalating to the COO as appropriate

Collaborate with managers to address performance-related concerns and facilitate performance improvement plans when necessary.

Assist with performance management processes, including collecting and monitoring data to help managers see if benchmarks are being hit

Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement

Support maintaining accurate employee records using BambooHR

Conduct thorough investigations into employee relations issues, documenting findings and recommending appropriate action

Coordinate org-wide travel arrangements, including flights, accommodations, and transportation, ensuring timely bookings and adherence to budgetary guidelines

Support logistics planning, including venue selection, catering and event coordination of the RWB RISE retreat

Oversee tracking, ordering and distribution of merch in the RWB store as well as promotional items for state team events (buttons, pins, signs, etc.)

Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’VE GOT:

Education & Experience - Experience in HR, recruiting or people operations. Preference given to candidates with people management or HR generalist experience in a startup or non-profit environment. Previous work experience with BambooHR is highly preferred. Basic knowledge of HR policies, procedures and employment laws.

Communication - You have excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. You have been described as trustworthy and approachable and value keeping employee data safe.

Tech Savvy: You effortlessly leverage technology as a means to get work done quickly and efficiently. You easily adapt to new tools and platforms and love to learn the ins and outs of them. You are proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc). You have previous experience in an HRIS system with BambooHR being highly preferred.

Detail-Oriented - You have a keen eye for detail and are a stickler for ensuring accuracy and completeness. You thrive in environments where precision is paramount, consistently delivering high-quality work while maintaining focus amidst complexity and varied demands.

Inclusive - You can work effectively with people regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, political background or job type.

Flexible - You are comfortable navigating sometimes ambiguous work with competing priorities. You are nimble and can effectively shift focus when the need arises.

Organized & Productive - You have the ability to radically prioritize tasks and plan your days to meet goals.

Growth Mindset - You have the ability to fail fast and win fast because you know that we learn as much from failure as we do success. You are not afraid to take risks, think outside the box and give or receive feedback.

Playfully Passionate: Your ability to get sh*t done is accompanied by your love for fun. You understand that we can do serious work without taking ourselves too seriously.
