Job Summary

The Associate Director of Study Abroad will create and manage long-term international partnerships. In this role, you will have organizational dotted-line tactical linkage to more than 100 institutional partner program colleagues. You will be responsible for discerning and conducting new partner formation commonly requiring two years to reach fruition, followed by a minimum five-year program longevity preceding strategic renewal. In addition, you will establish best practices, interpret policy changes, negotiate student mobility with program partners worldwide, engage senior institutional leadership for applicable problems involving individual or institutional vulnerability, liaising with in-country offices and civil authorities and supervise a team of study abroad professionals.

What You'll Be Doing:

Direct all matters of contractual and enrollment management with international partner universities for student exchange

Represent and market Purdue University for incoming international exchange students and partner university offices of international programs

Monitor tuition exchange balances

Ongoing 3-year forecasting minimally for trend management including program culling

Vigilance to establishing and updating program policies including emergency and disciplinary procedures for students and institutional stakeholders

Evaluate and recommend programs to leadership of Purdue academic units

Establish official billing and registration mechanisms in conjunction with offices of the Bursar, Registrar, and Financial Aid for programs; problem-solve the same for individual students

Negotiate Agreements and Contracts with SPS and related entities

Carry out ongoing dotted-line relationships with higher education professionals at each partner program

Review applications and officially admit international exchange students to Purdue, liaising both with partner university officials and Purdue ISS for necessary documentation, federal compliance matters, and registration of students

Serve as program contact for urgent situations of Purdue students in-country, ultimately regarding mental and physical health as well as any necessary legal matters and overall well-being

Connect to Purdue Police, ODOS, CARE, Risk Management, and related offices to aid students for both anticipated and emergency needs

What We're Looking For:

University Degree

4 years experience administering centralized campus-wide international education programs

Experience working in international education including living/working overseas with international education organizations; past overseas travel experience

Knowledge and understanding of international education abroad

Strong competency using office software applications

Excellent communications and public relations skills essential for working with diverse audiences of stakeholders

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of resources
