We are currently looking for a Part TIme WIC Peer Counselor to join our team. The position would be responsible for promoting breastfeeding and providing basic breastfeeding education to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
Responsibilities:
Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers
Delivers a high level of customer service to assure positive patient experience
Provides basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers
Provides follow-up communication with all mothers in the caseload
Counsels WIC breastfeeding customers in the home, community, hospital, pediatric clinics or by phone as determined by the supervisor
Maintains accurate records of all client contacts and keeps all information confidential
Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance
Omission of specific duties does not exclude them from this position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this position
Qualifications:
Past or present breastfeeding experience
Experience with culturally diverse population
Must have completed the WIC Peer Counselor training
Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions/Physical Demand: Busy clinic environment at various locations in the community, ability to transport and carry work related supplies
