Basketball Camp Specialist (Sports) - Old Bridge

Under the supervision of the Director of Camps, the Sports Specialist shall plan and implement the camp basketball programming - incorporating our YMCA Core Values in all lesson plans.

Responsibilities

ASSUME responsibility for the safety and welfare of all campers in the sports programs; maintaining clean and creative environment throughout the summer.

PLAN and IMPLEMENT an age appropriate sports curriculum

PARTICIPATE in staff functions (i.e. meetings, staff training, family nights, Camp Carnival, etc.).

PROMOTES positive values in campers through the use of effective group work techniques.

SET UP sports equipment prior to camp opening. Maintain all supplies and equipment in good order throughout the summer.

INVENTORY and STORE equipment and supplies at end of summer.

ACTS in accordance with YMCA philosophy and character development values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility; and policies and procedures (as stated in the camp staff manual) while on the job.

ADHERE to policies related to boundaries with youth. Complete required abuse risk management training. Follow mandated abuse reporting procedures, including reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

Qualifications

The employee must be 18 years of age and have completed high school.

All employees must have skills in teaching children, group work, and program planning and implementation, and a love of the Outdoors!

The employee must have the ability to lead, plan, and participate in a range of activities in an outdoor environment and setting; and the ability to walk, stand, lift, bend and stretch.

Temporary Part-Time
