Physician Billing Supervisor

The Physician Billing Supervisor ensures the accurate and timely payments by third party insurance companies, in compliance with payer contract specifications. The PMA Billing Supervisor works with the Revenue Cycle Director and PMA PFS Manager to review trends in front office processes and opportunities that result in enhanced third party payments, compares actual payments to the contract specifications, and monitors the timeliness of carrier payments. The PMA Billing Supervisor will also monitor patient billing, through self-pay and bad debt collection vendors. This position is also responsible for the appropriate and timely follow-up of claim denials, as well as participation in any patient access initiatives. This individual will also prepare relevant reports for management review and work with practice leadership to monitor and trend front office staff performance.

Preferred Education:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business or Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a closely related field.

Required Technical Skills:

Strong analytical, problem solving, root cause analysis skills to evaluate problems and interpret trends; Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with clinical and financial health care colleagues; Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office; Expert knowledge of healthcare industry financial statistical indicators.

Preferred Licensure/Registration/Certification:

Possession and maintenance of one of the following professional certifications: Certified Patient Account Manager (CPAM) or Certified Clinic Account Manager (CCAM) certifications issued by the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM); Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)

Required Experience:

Minimum of 2 years previous medical billing, third party, agency billing. Patient follow-up experience, medical terminology and knowledge of various reimbursement/billing formularies (ICD-10, CPT4, DRG, etc.)
