Purpose of the Position: The Annual Giving Officer (AGO) is responsible for designing and implementing all annual giving components of the University's development program.

The AGO implements strategies for identifying, cultivating, and successfully soliciting individuals, corporations, and foundations for annual gifts to support the University.

This position is responsible for managing University-wide, college-specific, and unit-directed fundraising initiatives, leading the development of mailed and emailed marketing materials as well as any electronic fundraising platforms, educating students on the importance of being engaged and supportive alumni, and soliciting a medium-sized portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects as well as a small portfolio of major gift prospects.

The AGO should be an excellent communicator and writer, and an experienced fundraising or marketing professional.

Duties/Responsibilities ● Design and manage the annual giving program, which includes, but is not limited to, the President's Council solicitation and solicitations of friends and alumni for university-wide initiatives and college-specific campaigns.

Manage the Development communications calendar.

● Develop and manage a strategic plan for increasing the University's alumni giving rate.

Oversee and direct fundraising initiatives, which may include Annual Day of Giving, targeted mini-phonathon, philanthropy education event, and Senior Gift campaign.

Work independently and collaboratively with VP for University Advancement, Development Officers, and other Development colleagues to strategize and initiate new avenues of solicitation to strengthen the annual giving program, which may involve crowdfunding platforms and text-to-give strategies.

● Create, launch, and oversee a consecutive-year giving society to better steward donors and to identify potential major gift and legacy gift prospects.

● Responsible for leading the development of marketing pieces for annual giving.

Assist in drafting language for website updates, brochures, giving proposals, and other development marketing materials for relevant areas and programming needs.

Create and manage all aspects of monthly IMPACT donor e-newsletter.

● Manage a medium-sized portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects (prospects who can give at the $2,500 to $25,000 level), including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

● Manage a small portfolio of major gift prospects (prospects who can give at the $25K+ level) including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

● Meet performance metrics as established in collaboration with the Vice President for University Advancement.

● Work collaboratively with and in support of advancement staff, College and UAH Foundation representatives, volunteers, and other University representatives.

● Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing an annual scholarship recipient event in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations & Special Events and the Sr.

Donor Relations Coordinator.

● Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing an annual President's Council event in collaboration with the Development team and the Office of Alumni Relations & Special Events.

● Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing other Development events, including College-specific donor receptions, as needed.

● Participate in all aspects of a donor gift cycle: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

● Represent the University by attending fundraising and donor cultivation events.

Ability to travel as necessary for out-of-town appointments, meetings, and conferences, working nights and weekends as required.

Manage travel arrangements and calendar for self.

Other duties as assigned.

● Membership and participation in CASE and/or APF, as well as University committees as appropriate.

● Incumbent must be a strong relationship-builder capable of interacting with potential and major donors.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience.

3-5 years of full-time progressively responsible Development/Fundraising or Marketing/Communications work experience.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort learning new technology and systems.

Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic fundraising or marketing programs or projects.

Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications: Master's degree is preferred.

Related professional education or certificate is desired.

Professional experience in managing social media content and electronic fundraising platforms is preferred.

Experience using relational database software is preferred.

Higher Education fundraising or marketing experience is preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in fundraising and evaluation of outcomes and success in securing gifts is desired.
