Locksmith - Clark University

Maintain and preserve the integrity of the University's master key system.

* Install, repair, and service locks, including cylindrical, unit, mortise, and rim locks.

* Install, repair, change, and service locks and security systems as needed by the university community, and within the confines of the Space Access Policy.

* Cut new or replacement keys for authorized personnel based on key request forms and workorders.

* Repair locks on desks, file cabinets, display cases, and similar containers.

* In emergency situations, promptly address lock-related issues.

* Pick locks for which keys have been lost or repair/replace door closure panic hardware or ADA openers.

* Triage and service electronic key card systems.

* Issue keys to University employees, contractors, and affiliates, maintaining records of keys issued and returned.

* Recommend suitable locks and lock and key usage.

* As part of a larger team, participate in the on-call rotation and provide coverage/support toother facility teams.

* Support University events.

Requirements: * High school diploma or equivalent.

* Formal training, apprenticeship or certificate as a locksmith is required.

* Certified Registered Locksmith (CRL) by Associated Locksmiths of America and/or Massachusetts Locksmith Association (MLA) is preferred.

* At least 2 years demonstrated locksmithing experience.

* Ability to cut and issue keys, re-key, install and repair locks and hardware; interpret, implement, and maintain pre-defined master key systems; use electrical and mechanical tools of the profession; read, interpret, and understand technical language in specifications, schematics, blueprints, and construction documents.

* Demonstrated experience utilizing security principles, systems, and procedures.

* Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.

Ability to drive a truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties.?

* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, managers, coworkers, students, residents, guests, and contractors.

* Ability to work independently and as a team member.

* Ability to stand, crawl, walk and stoop; push, pull and lift & lower objects weighing up to 50lbs from floor to waist high and rotate upper torso.

Ability to lift material and parts, up to 50 pounds, from shoulder to above head while standing on a ladder.

Ability to work in dirty and noisy conditions, in wet or humid weather, and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures.

* Working knowledge and ability to use 2-way radio and possess computer literacy.

* Maintain a positive working relationship with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.

* This position is considered essential personnel and must have the ability to work overtime, weekends and various work shifts, including on-call/emergency response.
