Reporting to the Pool Service Supervisor, the Lead Pool Lifeguard is an outgoing, motivated individual capable of adapting to change in a fast past pool and hospitality environment. A successful candidate mentors and demonstrates passion for people, encouraging and inspiring guests to elevate their wellness and aquatic experience, while creating a safe, fun and enjoyable best in class atmosphere. The individual selected for this role contributes to the pool facilities, while preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Additional responsibilities of the role include operational excellence while providing a clean and safe environment for all patrons, team members and vendors, while safeguarding enterprise assets and guaranteeing departmental integrity. The Lead Pool Lifeguard also collaborates, initiates, and supports opportunities with other functions by championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that faithfully reflects and upholds the Tribes vision, mission and values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Responsible for modeling and leading; welcoming the guests, making them comfortable, and providing them with best in class guest service, including but limited to; providing our guest with safety communication, and anticipating their service needs while keeping safety at the utmost attention.

2. Responsible for the overall safety of the hotel guest at the pool deck and all aquatic activities. The Lead Lifeguard models and provides safe supervision of guests while enforcing pool rules and regulations.

3. Prevents and responds to aquatic emergencies and is capable of recognizing emergencies, responds quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and other incidents.

4. Mentors and ensures that the team consistently follows all best in class safety, sanitation and cleanliness procedures pertaining to pool facilities.

5. Assists facilities team in setting up and tearing down chairs and pool furniture for day-to-day operations and during extreme weather conditions.

6. Models and upholds enterprise and department policies and procedures as well as Standard Operating Guidelines. Models and inspects day-to-day operations and training requirements.

7. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Lifeguard certification and service required

Minimum of one (1) year of entry level management required

Possess at the time of application and maintained valid throughout employment: Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer required

Previous experience in a spa, resort or pool environment - highly preferred.

Ability to work outdoors in seasonal heat or cold as well as inclement weather

Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management, both verbally and in writing a must.

Handling of multiple guest simultaneously

Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to provide a genuine and sincere service experience in a friendly and professional manner.

Must have demonstrated ability exercising utmost discretion with confidential information including, but not limited to: personal and or health information from customers.

Must actively listen to provide optimal service tailored to guest requests.

Ability to consistently pay attention to guest and detail to safety in a fast-paced, high demand environment required.

Must have experience working under pressure

Must be comfortable working in both spa and casino environment.

Must be comfortable with sitting and standing for long hours.

Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor under challenging situations.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

Proof of Lifeguard Certificate including Lifeguard training, First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer

At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
