GENERAL MANAGER

Job Description

The General Manager is the primary individual responsible for the management of the administration, sales, business development, marketing, support, and operations for the REMET Alcohols strategic business unit (SBU) of REMET Corporation. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for the management and oversight of the REMET PIC, Inc. and Enhanced Wax Products SBU warehouse operations that also operate out of the La Mirada facility. This position also has the responsibility to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies governing the sale, distribution, and warehousing of food grade alcohol products.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Work closely with the President & CEO, Senior Management Team, and other designated technical support staff to lead, develop, and execute strategies for the Alcohols SBU.

Manage all aspects of the Alcohols SBU including adherence and compliance with all regulatory agencies governing the sale, distribution, and warehousing of alcohol related products. These agencies include but are not limited to the FDA, EPA, OHSA, CalOSHA, DoCPH, FMSCA, DOT, CHP, ABC, CERS and the TTB.

Initiate, develop and increase sales and profitability for the Alcohols SBU.

Work closely with Senior Management and the Finance support staff to prepare budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans to ensure growth in both short- and long-term profitability.

Closely monitor pricing and margin data for the Alcohols SBU to ensure accurate pricing is implemented and maximum gross margin potential is met on all sales.

Develop and implement marketing plans to identify market trends along with customer and product needs.

Manage all key vendor relationships.

Closely manage all direct customer relationships in addition to maintaining and growing customer base through constant communication such as phone calls, E-mails, on-site and in-person meetings.

Generate routine customer contact reports in the internal sales force ERP system to log all key customer visits, issues, intel, state of business, order inquiries, technical issues, etc.

Monitor competitive threats and implement plans to address key competitor concerns.

Work with Finance support team to monitor customer credit, payment performance and compliance with applicable REMET policies including monthly cycle and annual inventory counts.

Provide technical support and guidance to customers for all REMET alcohol products. Address and answer all customer questionnaires.

Oversee resolution of all customer and vendor complaints, inquiries and issues working closely with the corporate Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager.

Ensure all regulatory compliance items are current and in place including the maintenance of the TTB Distilled Spirts Permit, Organic Certification, Kosher Certification and FDA FFR Compliance programs.

Manage and oversee all warehouse operations and trucking logistics for the REMET Alcohols SBU in addition to the warehouse functions for the REMET PIC, Inc. and Enhanced Wax Products SBU’s.

Follow all applicable ISO 9001 procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with the documented Quality System. Understand the REMET Quality Policy.

Maintain all required training courses and certifications for the position.

All other projects as assigned by Senior Management.

MAIN WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal

The individual will assume daily contact and maintain relationships with all key personnel which include but is not limited to the President & CEO, Executive Management Team, Alcohols administration and customer support team, Operations, PIC and EWP customer support and supply chain teams, Finance, Quality, HR, and IT.

External

The individual will maintain working relationships with various Alcohol vendors and suppliers, customers, regulatory and governmental agencies as well as outside contractors.

PROBLEM SOLVING COMPLEXITY:

Must be able to target new areas for growth in addition to assisting with capital expenditure budgeting and operating expenses.

Keep up to date with new technologies, processes and competitive advantages that will add to the profitability of the business.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

This position requires a minimum of an undergraduate degree (BA or BS) in a business or technical related field with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the industrial Alcohols industry or a related or similar field.

A Masters/MBA in a business or technical related field is highly desirable.

The incumbent must be tactful and possess strong communication skills, as well as analytical abilities.

This position must be able to effectively use ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word and other related software applications.

Full-time

Schedule:

8-Hour Shift / Monday – Friday

Salary: $100,000 - $125,000
