THE OPPORTUNITY

Overview of the HR function and VP HR role

Human Resources at IESO is a critical, strategic function, led by a Vice President who serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and reports directly to the President & CEO. As the energy sector and the IESO continue to move through a time of accelerated change and transformation, driven by energy transition among many other factors, human resources will continue to be a critical function as it relates to enabling its success.

The VP, HR is a strategic leader that takes a broad, long-term approach to problem solving and thinking to influence future planning and provides leadership, strategic direction, and vision to the HR team (4 direct, 31 indirect). This role serves as a trusted advisor to the President & CEO and the executive team, working horizontally across the organization in building talent and capability, delivering a positive employee experience, and enabling effective, culturally-aligned workforce decisions.

Key priorities include:

Provide strategic direction in leading and developing the key foundational human resources frameworks, programs, operational policies, and in providing expert advisory services to promote the IESO as a high performing, agile and talent-focused organization, designed to attract, retain, and engage its employees.

Act as an enterprise-wide thinker who works collaboratively with other senior leaders in supporting changes and initiatives, including driving the 5-year Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy for the organization.

Serve as a key member and decision maker on the executive team while providing influence and input on the development of the IESOs vision, mission, values, and culture, leading strategies and enabling timely decision making for their delivery at the Business Unit level.

Champion and support sector transformation, by defining and driving human resources programs, policies, systems, services, and models.

Provide overall strategic direction in enabling IESOs organizational transformation and in creating a positive employee and labour relations climate, where working collaboratively and respectfully with bargaining agent partners is integral to ensuring alignment with legislative and collective agreement requirements in supporting change management and positive employee experiences.

THE CANDIDATE

We are seeking senior HR leadership candidates who are deeply experienced in providing strategic vision and guidance in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.

If you are a proven strategic and inspirational leader with expertise in leading and executing change, enriching employee engagement and experience, and ensuring effective and timely client service delivery within a dynamic, complex (ideally unionized) environment of scope and scale, we’d like to hear from you.
