Salary range/Wage range: $43.08 - $56.09

Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hour per day

Primary location: Multi-site

About the Role

The Preschool Day Program provides specialized early childhood mental health care in a small classroom setting. The family and care team work together to support the child’s social, emotional, academic and physical development. The program works to strengthen the family’s ability to support their child by promoting parent confidence. Children attend the program two full days a week during the school year.

The Children’s Day Program provides group, family and individual therapy while also providing education in a small classroom setting. Children are encouraged to strengthen their existing abilities and develop new skills. Areas of focus include social skills, academic functioning and emotional and sensory awareness. Children attend the program daily during the school year.

The Speech Language Pathologist will:

Complete screening and standardized assessment of speech, language, communication and related disorders.

Determine appropriate diagnostic instruments to use with each patient.

Interpret test results in conjunction with other related medical, behavioural and educational information, to identify speech, language, communication and related disorders.

Provide information and recommendations to assist in understanding clinical conditions and ongoing care and management.

Consult and provide advice and educational services to patients and families regarding communication and related disorders.

Act as a resource and provide supportive training to team members to assist in their professional development.

Identify service delivery improvements and suggest enhancements with the lens of evidence informed practice and CASA’s strategic and operational plans.

Identify evaluation measures and outcomes in consultation with the manager and professional practice lead.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in speech-language pathology.

A minimum of three to five years recent pediatric experience.

Experience working with children and youth with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in community-based, school-based, and/or day program settings.

Member in good standing with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Conditions of Employment

A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.

A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.

Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
