Main purpose of position Currently we are looking for a Technical Development Manager (TDM) in Manila, Philippines to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Technical Development Manager your overall responsibility is to support the projects during the opportunity and development phase by managing the engineering, supply chain and project control resources and workstreams to deliver a consistent EPC Technical and Commercial offer to Business Development.
As overall Technical Lead, the TDM is expected to contribute and manage the consolidation of various analysis for the projects, necessary for the conclusion of feasibility studies. This includes yield assessments, wind measurement campaigns, connection solutions, regulatory and permitting requirements and land evaluations.
Main responsibilities
the feasibility of projects with technical knowledge, which is mainly civil works and electrical related, and manage front-end engineering studies by using internal or external resources.
deliver a cost competitive EPC budget considering the specific site conditions and grid interconnection solution(s) of the projects.
coordinate and plan Engineering, Supply Chain and Project control internal resources and workstreams to ensure smooth and efficient documentation delivery.
responsible for overall technical workstreams in development phases of projects, including regulatory and permitting, feasibility and front-end engineering studies, site studies, PV or wind- and HV technical preliminary design and design specifications in contracts.
lead the development of technical concepts and solutions of the projects, identify optimal solutions from a technical, commercial and execution perspective at early stage including civil, mechanical, and electrical aspects of PV or wind plants, interconnection and high-voltage design, yield assessments, as well as assessment of other technologies (solar PV, hybrids, BESS, etc).
ensure that the EPC budget is competitive and consistent with specific Technical Solutions, uncertainties, and risks of the projects.
lead external and internal technical development processes and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to successfully lead the project to construction start.
manage EPC deliverables in Request for Proposals (RFPs) and tenders.
work in a core regional team consisting of a handful of project development and project finance resources to jointly ensure we reach the company’s ambitious growth targets.
Qualifications and competencies
5 - 10 years professional experience, ideally from other renewable players, EPC companies
fluent both written and spoken in English and local language
experience with tender preparation and Construction Budget preparation.
experience with business development phase of projects and understanding of Philippine power market and regulatory processes particularly in renewable energy.
strong knowledge of technical aspects of renewable energy, power generation, interconnection and transmission
experience with overall project management and planning of technical workstreams of large infrastructure projects within the renewables industry
experience with structuring and executing Wind and PV projects in he Philippines.
commercial mindset and experience with optimizing overall business from a technical design and execution perspective
working knowledge and understanding of main technical contract structures in the renewables industry
multidisciplinary understanding of EPC projects
participation in constructing phase and Operating and Maintenance phase is desirable
experience in managing internal and external stakeholders, including leading presentations for decision making
