Leads group of lead engineers and engineers / technicians to develop complete seat to a set of requirements defined by “customer”
Provides front line technical customer interface for entire program. Manages the design and
processes for a specific project, program, or product line to meet current and future needs
Provides technical leadership, develops the technical skills, knowledge and provides technical
direction of the engineers and designers on the team
Evaluate cost effectiveness of proposed engineering changes and recommend course of action to management of Adient. Providing cost savings (VA/VE) in the design of the product, generally 5% target yearly
Manage activities within budgets
Follow require emergency prevention and operational controls
Apply, execute, and maintain function related BOS (Business Operating System) issues
Develops and provides resolution to customer technical issues through CBU/PBU Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager. Core member of SDT (Simultaneous Development Team).
Provides technical direction to engineers, designers, and support personnel
Approves all technical issues and works with team to ensure time and cost objectives are met
Understands and identifies the resource requirements to meet program/product objectives
Manages program resources to maximize utilization – identifying the right resource for the task to meet program deliverables
Promotes and facilitates the use of best practices in engineering
Supports and meets the program/product engineering budget
Capable of communicating effectively with all management levels
Lead and provide phase 1 Engineering input to commercial to help acquire new business
Use internal training exercises to increase the overall department technical competency
Develop modular new front seat frame structure to meet Thailand domestic customer and volume demands
Lead and help SDT/department on customer issues in time to ensure no impact to customer
delivery/quality
Calls, supports, and runs technical design reviews monthly/as necessary
Publishes a technical design review report
Ensures best practices are being followed in creating layout drawings, detail drawings and
assembly drawings
Ensures customer’s environment drawings are kept up to date
Ensures that no packaging or interference problems exist in the drawings/data
Facilitates, develops, and implements best practices in design and engineering. This includes, but is not limited to PDfSS, drawing standards, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), GD&T, root cause analysis, DVP (Design Verification Plan), DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), hand calculations and use of carry over and CPP technology
Ensures the design is robust to provide the highest quality in the build and assembly of prototype parts. Personally, ensures that the design and engineering data is released on time to ensure the highest quality assemblies for testing and the customer
Leads root cause analysis in the resolution of any test failures. Reviews and approves the analysis with the appropriate engineering management resources to resolve any particularly difficult problems. Ensures the appropriate management teams are brought in for any potential safety concerns.
Ensures for concurrence to quantities and tests required for supporting/resolving technical issues.
Ensures the product has gone through the appropriate channels to optimize the plan, ensuring
minimum number of prototypes are being tested and the best choice of reliability techniques are used to determine test duration, number of samples and types of tests
Supports DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) prior to release of prototype tooling, including support generation of
Manufacturing process flow, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) & Control plan
Reviews FEA/analysis/testing prior to finalizing concept, release of prototype tooling and release of production tooling to ensure design meets desired criteria/specifications
Reviews cost, performance, timing, weight, and investment versus customer targets with his/her core team members. Ensures that a complete corrective action plan is in place (and agreed to
with the core SDT) when the product is not conforming to expectations (including timing)
Directs and approves analysis (FEA, dimensional, hand calculations, tolerance stack ups etc.) prior to finalizing concept selection to ensure that the choice for concept meets the load requirements
Supports best practices and early detection for BSR
Ensures team uses the right tool/technology for providing technical solution to program/product
issues
Is aware of advancing technology and directs implementation as appropriate
Ensures complete knowledge transfer from acquired business to have smooth transition
Leads complete development timing with global tech centers to deliver new structure to sales
team in time
Approve ECRs, IRs or DAs (deviation authorizations) to properly document customer or Adient initiated changes or issues
(paperwork and/or EPIC system) follow Product Change Management System
Supports in identifying & preparing the required training of engineers, designers, and support
personnel for all basic technical skill requirements
Supports development and meets the agreed budget for the program/product. Ensure proper PD2 documents are developed and approved before the start of development and spending of money. Ensures customer scope changes are documented, budgeted, and approved prior to commencement of activity
Manages and supports all Adient strategic direction/initiatives and systems including PDfSS, CPP, PLUS (Product Launch System), offshore design etc.
Support in the management and implementation of career planning and personal development of staff
Ensures annual performance reviews of related team members are completed on time
Supports the program/product team in resolving customer technical issues
Led the use of A3, become champion
Led Engineering sign-off / SMTEs (Subject Matter Technical Expert) where assigned as champions
Impart training to Engineers
Timely resolution and execution of technical issues or changes.
Execution of deliverables to support program timing and cost objectives for new & current products
Support and execution of BOS procedures and process discipline
Effective balance of conflicting requirements and risks
Accurate and on-time BOMs, drawings, open issue list & engineering reports updates

Qualification (Education, Skills, and Experiences)
Bachelor's in engineering / equivalent experiences
+ 10 years in Engineering (Automotive frame/plastic/mechanism preferred) and including
+ 2 years in Lead Engineering role
