The News Department at WXTV Univision 41 is looking for a Writer/Producer to join our team!

We are looking for a dynamic, creative writer/producer with solid news judgment, ability to multitask and manage their time, and be proficient in all aspects of social media.

You will work closely with Executive Producer, Producers, Assignment Editors and Reporters to write and produce newscasts and other news related shows for a multiplatform distribution. You will report directly to Executive Producer.

This position will require you to be part or join the IBEW bargaining unit.

ABOUT YOU:

You are a news junkie who loves storytelling, engaging with a digital audience and social media/digital savvy. You are accustomed to working on a fast-paced environment, can respond quickly to changes, and have the ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.

YOUR DAY-DAY:

You will write conversational, balanced copy that provides depth and context.

You will develop original story ideas for news shows.

React to breaking news and severe weather.

Actively participate in editorial meetings and pitch stories.

Stay organized while managing time and resources.

Foster teamwork and collaboration through strong communication skills

Work well under deadline pressure.

Exhibit confidence in the control room.

Incorporate digital elements into newscasts in a meaningful way.

You will work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends and evenings.

You will carry out the Univision 41 promise of value and oversee the daily execution of that vision.

YOU HAVE:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

1–3 years minimum experience in producing news in a medium to large TV market required. Longer experience preferred.

Experience in producing shows, interviews/panel shows, and news magazines is a plus.

Effective news writing ability for all platforms

Excellent and grammatically accurate English and Spanish language skills - both written and verbal

Ample knowledge of television production and News gathering equipment and computer systems required.

Ample knowledge of current events, with emphasis in local and regional movers and shakers
