Job Summary:

Develop, manage and co-ordinate the planning of all phases of a project from design to handover, to achieve the project goals and objectives.

Working on a large concrete framed, life sciences building. The development comprises working in and adjacent to both waterways and the DLR with a multi level basement and complex temporary works. Experience of working on highly serviced buildings is needed with a good understanding of commissioning laboratories, offices and back of house support areas.

The buildings will be delivered to both S&C and full fit out to Cat B.

Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

Salary up to £110,000 per annum dependent on experience.

Main Responsibilities:

Provide planning input, develop construction methods and strategies and co-ordinate construction feasibility studies on new and future developments.

Develop a detailed Project Master Programme covering all phases of the project as set out in the planning procedures.

Update the Project Master Programme on a regular basis from project initiation through to project completion.

Prepare and agree with the design team the design programme, highlighting key deliverables and interphases.

Prepare and agree with project team the Tender Event Schedule (TES) for all Trade Packages.

Continuously update and maintain the TES to ensure that it reflects the latest information on all procurement events.

Prepare and agree with project team the ‘Initial Time & Progress Schedule’ for all Trade Packages.

Review and comment on all programmes, information schedules and method statements produced by Trade Contractors.

Review and comment on all potential schedule impacts resulting from Trade Contractor performance or delays, Client modifications, CWCL/Consultant design changes/proposals, logistics issues, etc.

Perform planning/schedule studies and assignments as requested by Senior Project Manager or Planning Director.

Oversee and maintain standards for all work performed by planners/assistant planners.

Determine project manpower and resource requirements on an on-going basis. Define, monitor, and report on interfaces between the various Trade Packages including Shell & Core and Fit Out Trade Packages where applicable.

Provide all planning information required for the Project Monthly Report, any other internal/external reports, CWCL Knowledge Database and any special assignments or tasks as required by the Planning Director or Senior Project Manager.

Ensure that the planning function is performed in line with CWCL planning procedures, instructions, and reporting formats.

Discharge responsibilities for Health and Safety as set out in the Canary Wharf Group Health Safety and Welfare manual also the Canary Wharf Group Construction Health and Safety Plan both in respect of the package and integration of the overall project.

Carry out any other reasonable duty as requested by the Senior Project Manager or Planning Director.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Key member of a project team reporting to the Senior Project Manager with regard to the overall project planning requirements and priorities. Reporting to the Planning Director with regard to the performance of the planning process, procedures, reporting and information feedback. Working with all members of the project team to:

Ensure that the programme includes and co-ordinates all their requirements to allow them to effectively manage their area of responsibility;

Ensure that each team member is aware of their commitments in terms of time and performance;

Ensure the project performance targets and benchmarks are achieved.

What We Require of You:

A technical qualification within architecture, engineering or building together with a relevant professional qualification is essential.

Experience of basement construction and temporary works are essential

Planning experience of large concrete framed construction is essential.

Experience of complex MEP services installation and integration of commissioning is essential.

Knowledge and understanding of civil, structural, architectural and services trades and their relationships and integration into the building whole.

It is essential that the post holder is fully familiar with modern planning techniques and proficient in the use of Planning Software, particularly Asta Powerproject.

An understanding of Construction Management philosophy and procurement process is essential.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate self-management, initiative, and an ability to think analytically.

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and organisation skills are essential.

It is essential that the post holder be a Team Player who can add value to the management process and encourage, co-ordinate and articulate the contributions of all members.

Excellent IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and good numeric skills are essential.

Experience of Document Management Software is desirable.

Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to build relationships and influence decision-making at all levels are essential.

The ability to deliver to tight deadlines is required.

Commitment to continuing professional development is highly desirable
