Job Description
Main Street Radiology is seeking a skilled and motivated Registered Nurse for our Interventional Department. This candidate will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality patient care and assisting with interventional procedures under the guidance of a physician.
Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse:
Perform comprehensive assessments of patients before, during, and after interventional radiology procedures.
Administer medications for possible sedation as ordered by the physician and monitor patients' responses during procedures.
Assist in the preparation and setup of necessary equipment and supplies for each interventional procedure.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary medical team, including physicians, radiologists, and technologists, to coordinate care for patients.
Monitor patient vital signs, provide continuous patient monitoring, and respond appropriately to any changes in the patient's condition or needs.
Ensure accurate documentation of patient data, including pre-procedure and post-procedure assessments, medication administration, and patient outcomes.
Educate patients and their families about the interventional radiology procedure, potential risks, and necessary post-procedure care.
Requirements of the Registered Nurse:
BLS Certification
ACLS Certification
NY RN License
Interventional experience preferred but willing to train

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the radiologist and/or technical manager is responsible for assessing the nursing needs and initiating appropriate intervention for patients undergoing procedures at MSR according to the mission, goals, philosophy and policies and procedure. Maintains standards of patient care. Participates in the education of the staff. Conducts QA studies and attends staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited school
Licensed or Certified by the New York State Department of Health
Flexibility to work overtime as needed
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
STANDARDS OF EMPLOYMENT
Report to work in attire that is professional, neat, clean, and appropriate for the work environment
Wear proper identification at all times while on duty
Maintain confidentiality of all patient information at all times
Report to work on time and meet acceptable standard for attendance

JOB DUTIES:
Identify each patient and review each patient’s requisition for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information. Explain the procedure to the patient and answer any questions they might have.
Review the patient prescription and identify and report any discrepancy
Review the patient questionnaire and identify and report any descrepency
Assesses patient condition before, during and after examination. Report and document any pertinent information
Responds quickly and initiates treatment of patients experiencing a contrast reaction
Communicates with the referring physician and their office as needed
Documents as needed any data pertinent to the care of the patient in the medical record
Coordinate examinations to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care and assist in the management of workflow
Maintains injection area for optimum efficiency
Ensures that the integrity of the emergency stat kit
Monitors inventory of supplies and notifies technical manager when stock is low
Checks the defibrillator on a daily basis
Monitors medications as per policy
Knowledge of radiation and magnetic safety
Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines
Promote collaborative working relationship with colleagues. Participate in the orientation and training of new employees Contribute to the overall improvement of the facility by offering suggestions and training
Maintain confidentiality of all center information
Initiate applicable “incident reports” by the end of the shift
Report all hazards that could harm patients, visitors or other employees to the appropriate party
Establish and maintains a good rapport and cooperative relationship with centers staff

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Capability to be independently mobile
Ability to manage physically aggressive patients
Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance, reach, stoop and bend while maintaining a good mechanical position
Ability to perform tasks for long periods with multiple distractions.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate equipment.
Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors and documents, hear equipment alarms.
Ability to work within a limited space.
