Alliant Engineering has an exceptional growth opportunity available for an experienced Graduate Transportation Engineer in our Tampa Office. The Tampa office is new to the region and this position will play an integral role in supporting Transportation and ITS related projects in the southeast region.

In this role, you will serve as a key technical expert providing guidance in all aspects of transportation and ITS initiatives including signal systems and connected vehicle applications.

You will research, study, and analyze demographic data, attend public meetings, develop roadway and signal system concepts, use GIS mapping and CAD design software to complete reports, memos and plans pertaining to Alliant projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating and interacting with clients and presenting to groups of all sizes.

Responsibilities:

Utilize transportation, traffic, and ITS engineering knowledge, skills, and ability to provide planning, design, and deployment services for our clients to improve operations and safety

Identify Florida DOT design and other processes to complete system engineering, design, and acceptance testing of ITS projects

Provide accurate information on the latest technology to make decisions that will improve the safe and efficient movement along freeways and arterials

Prepare preliminary and final reports that summarize the data collection, analysis, and recommendations for connected vehicle projects

Analyze signing, traffic signal, and ITS inventories

Apply GIS mapping and spatial analysis to develop tailored solutions for project needs

Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience working with Transportation and ITS design in the Florida market

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field

Must possess a high capacity for self-motivation and be able to apply engineering knowledge to a variety of projects

Knowledge of the Florida market with established relationships and contacts

Strong working technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Florida

IMSA Level II Traffic Signal Technician

Task and project management experience
