We are now looking for an Expert Design Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering of the Integrated System and Solutions team in Wartsila Polska in Gdynia. We offer the possibility to hybrid remote work.

As an Expert Design Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

Support the sales in the new build projects and other studies regarding of alternative fuel systems and newest market's trends in decarbonization and electrification of marine industry

Participate in preparation of feasibility studies and other engineering documents which will follow general international standards and Wärtsilä guidelines in terms of content, quality and functionality

Perform evaluation of the ship's design developed based on alternative fuels regulations and Wärtsilä decarbonisation strategy

Perform design work and provide technical information, in order to prepare documentation for sales projects according to guidelines and time schedule

Actively involved in training and application of the new market trends of alternative fuels and marine electrification

Be open for a new challenges, especially related to decarbonization and electrification of marine industry

Check/approve designs made by colleagues.

Cooperate with other teams within IS&S and other Business Lines within Wartsila.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

Strong technical knowledge in Ship integration, Marine systems and Interface identification

Fluent written and spoken English (including marine and technical vocabulary)

Bachelor's or master's degree in shipbuilding or ocean engineering

Good collaboration skills, customer service mindset and team player with a willingness to work across organizational boundaries (teams and business lines)

Out-of-the-box thinking and innovative mindset

Business and Customer focus

Good communication and presentation skills

Willingness to learn and a proactive attitude toward professional development

Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work environment

More than 5 years experience in marine industry / Marine System engineering

Ability to handle a few projects simultaneously, work independently, and collaborate with a multi-discipline and international team

Very good skills in MS Office package

Pro user of 2D CAD software

Skills might be an additional asset:

Knowledge of classification societies rules and other maritime requirements for alternative fuels and new market trends in marine industry

Experience with 2D/3D software related to piping ship design process

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually or F2F.
