Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Machine Shop Helper with experience working in welding and machine shop environments. In this role, you will contribute to the manufacturing program by providing assistance to machinists and welders in a variety of tasks including forklift operation, shop cleaning, assembly work, and machine upkeep. The candidate should be capable of physical labor and working safely in a hazardous environment. The ability to operate shop equipment and weld is also desirable.
Responsibilities
Maintain clean shop environment though removal of chips, dust, and debris from manufacturing operations
Organize incoming deliveries
Move palletized items via forklift throughout the facility
Provide assistance in assembly work on shop floor
Assist in operating machines under supervision of qualified fabricator
Be available for general labor and chores in the facility such as assembling tools or furniture
Show a willingness to learn and gain new skills on the job
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
1+ years experience in shop environment preferred
Ability to properly and safely use hand tools
Able to take instruction and complete tasks in a timely manner
Proven team player with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to operate motor vehicles and be insured on company vehicles
Familiarity with CNC mills, welding, and manual machines desired
Forklift certification desired
Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
Ability to work with highly collaborative team
Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others
Physical Conditions
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 60 pounds in all directions
Communicating with others to exchange information
Operating heavy equipment or machinery
Use hand tools
Repetitive assembly operations of manufacturing test fixtures and test setups in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams

Capable of obtaining forklift and boom lift certification

Occasionally requires non-standard work-week hours
Occasionally requires working 2nd shift, beginning at 4:30pm local time
Occasionally requires extended hours to support launch and critical project timelines
The hourly range for this position is $23-$25 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.
