Basic Requirements Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) DEGREE: In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the education requirements for a podiatrist position.

Incumbent must have a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from a school podiatric medicine accredited by the American Podiatric Medical Association's Council on Podiatric Medical Education (APMA) at the time the degree was obtained.

LICENSURE: Must have passed the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (NBPME) or the American Podiatric Medical Licensing Examination (APMLE) AND have a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice podiatric medicine in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-14: One (1) year of professional podiatry experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the practice of podiatry in an office, clinic, or hospital.

This experience is related to the work of the position in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement.

Examples include: Perform surgical repair of bone fractures, soft tissue injuries, congenital and structural deformities, and infections involving the foot, ankle and leg.

Review past medical history, request or perform diagnostic test and examinations as necessary to obtain information relevant to each case.

Diagnose, directs, prescribes or provides treatment, arranges for specialized care or hospitalization.

Educates patients on illness and treatment and any follow-up.

Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.

Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
