Career Opportunity:
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in this entrepreneurial private equity firm, acting as a trusted member of the Finance team, working closely with both the VP, Finance and CFO. The Accounting Manager position is focused on management company accounting and GP tax work, with exposure to the fund side as well.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP, Finance, the Accounting Manager, with the guidance of the VP of Finance and CFO, will assist with the management company accounting and reporting, utilizing the support of the outsourced administrator. This will include the preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements, including the preparation of a foreign entity. Additionally, this role will assist with expense allocation between the various funds and prepare quarterly tax estimates for the GPs, among other tasks.
Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries related to recording asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries such as actual and accrued payroll, benefit allocations, transactions, prepaids and accruals
Complete bank reconciliations and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closes
Oversee and manage the accounts receivable & payable process including: (i) Expense reports and credit card reports in Tallie expense management software, (ii) AP cycle (Bill.com), (iii) Prepare portfolio invoices and send out monthly/quarterly billing statements, and (iv) Review and pursue outstanding collectible balances
Monthly review of the trial balance and general ledger activity to ensure the validity of account balances and the proper coding of invoices and expenses
Assistance in the preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements, including preparation of a foreign entity
Responsible for company expense management
Prepare GPs’ quarterly tax estimates
Coordinate with outsourced tax provider and respond to PBC requests
Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
Prepare and coordinate expense allocations and assist in intercompany reconciliations
Work to develop better management reports, forecasts, and budgets
Analyze financial operations to ensure business efficiency, including preparing forecasts, variance analysis, and other ad hoc projects as needed
Prepare Form 1099s, Form 571L, and other state and regulatory reporting and filings
Work on other special projects for the VP, Finance and CFO
Research relevant accounting pronouncements and regulatory rules on an as needed basis
Assist with HR Management
Assist with firm insurance support
Job Qualifications:
3-6+ years of accounting experience; private equity, venture, hedge fund, or asset management sector preferred plus experience in tax from public accounting and/or all public accounting or industry
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred, but not required
Proficiency in QuickBooks, or other accounting system and preferred experience with Tallie and Bill.com
Strong analytical and excellent written and oral communication skills, highly collaborative
Ability to multi-task and balance priorities while also focusing on bringing projects to completion
Demonstrate the highest standards of ethics and integrity
