Job Summary:
Our client is looking for a Transport and Capacity Engineer to join their St. Louis team! This candidate, under limited supervision, will be responsible for the analysis of network interconnection and transport capacity planning and design for existing and new rate center launches for the telephony network.
Duties:
Interface with Telephone Operations for network interconnection and transport capacity planning for existing and new rate center launches providing input on leased network cost implications
Assist in the preparation of interconnection designs with ILECs, IXCs and third party trading partners facilitating the creation of telephone networks that provide carrier class reliability, high quality voice transmission, and enhanced features
Work with Telephone Operations to implement plans for interconnects with LECs, long haul suppliers, SS7 signaling providers and other 3rd party carriers that deliver finished services
Propose network solutions and network architectural revisions that comply and are consistent with BELLCORE standards as they apply to switching, voice transmission and testing, internetwork signaling, customer premise equipment requirements, and interoffice trunking
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Assume a supportive role during major outages, coordinating not only within the Circuit Operations group but between functional areas including internal organizations and vendors as required
Track telephony related outages and performs analysis to understand root cause and recommends network solutions to Management and/or Telephone Operations where technically feasible
Analyze network designs, network drawings, DLRs and other data to understand existing 911 diversity and makes recommendations to eliminate single points of failure within the network where technically feasible
Work with ILECs and other suppliers for coordination of network changes and augments regarding voice traffic flow
Analyze traffic reporting for voice bearing Trunk Groups and works with Telephone Operations to proactively identify potential performance issues that require augmentation or ongoing under-utilization that allows for trunk group and facility disconnects
Provide project management support in partnership with Telephone Operations
Develop and maintain processes and procedures associated with Telephony, Transport and Circuit management functions ensuring compliance with established internal controls and policies
Serve as subject matter expert on ASR process
Interface with Traffic Operations to submit ASRs to the LECs and other 3rd party vendors to install or disconnect the required circuits and tracks the orders to completion resolving any vendor errors received from submitted ASRs
Build, develop, and maintain procedures to navigate through process of ordering leased transport connections and interconnects
