The Electrical Engineer - Utility scale projects will own and drive the end-to-end designs for utility scale solar/BESS projects (20MW+), while also collaborating closely with cross functional teams to ensure on time delivery of high quality, fully compliant and comprehensive project solutions.
What you can expect as Electrical Engineer – Utility Scale Projects at Illumine-i:
• You'll own the designing of utility solar PV systems and delivering complete design packages.
• You'll review requirements and select and/or recommend specifications of major components.
• You'll closely collaborate with the project managers, enabling them to effectively communicate with our customers, utility companies/contractors, administrative/government agencies etc.
• You'll assist with responding to RFPs, conduct feasibility studies as needed.
• You'll be innovative and proactive in providing solutions/solution approaches.
• You'll perform other duties and special projects as assigned, while working with other teams to ensure clients’ needs and internal deadlines are met.
Essential Qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in electrical engineering
• 6-10 years of experience in designing utility scale PV/BESS projects (20MW or higher).
• Experience with yield estimation, creating layouts, SLDs and electrical calculations.
• Experience/familiarity with load flow, short circuit, arc flash & interconnections studies.
• Proficiency in creating site layouts, electrical system design, yield estimation etc.
• Knowledge of IEEE, IS, IEC, NEC and other standards for design of solar PV systems as well as with regulatory approvals and associated processes.
• Expertise in technical aspects of Solar Modules, Inverters, mounting systems & BoS.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and resolve issues independently based on project/company standards.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven record of good judgment and analytical skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with engineering, construction, and customer facing teams.
Great to have:
• Experience in working with AutoCAD, PVsyst etc.
• Prior experience with ETAP, PSCAD is an added advantage.
• Experience with executing utility scale projects in North America.
