Senior Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY

The senior accountant is responsible for the accuracy of the Company’s product cost.This position will provide key data to the organization and drive better product understanding and decision-making. The position will partner with the Manufacturing, Inventory, and Finance teams to ensure integrity and consistency in reporting and communication.

This is a “hands-on” transactionally intensive role at Newlight.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, review inventory, and analyze cost of sales variances.

Responsible for Bill of Material (BOM) creation and maintenance

Ensure all components of the Company’s standard cost are complete and accurate.

Update annual material, labor, and overhead standards

Prepare and distribute all cost-related information, including product costs – standard vs. actual for item SKU and product line profitability analysis

Partner with Operations to ensure accurate inventory reporting

Review inventory adjustment requests and approve/post as required.

Audit company inventory controls and inventory cycle counts.

Execute quarterly physical count inventory program.

Track and report all costs related to critical R&D or Customer Projects (Project Accounting)

Ensure safeguarding of Company assets

Ensure all contributions to Company reporting are timely and fairly stated.

Prepare Daily/Weekly/Monthly reporting related to inventory, variances, and other metrics that provide insight into monthly performance

Provide ad-hoc support to business partners (trends, project returns, justifications)

Other duties and projects, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

2-3 years experience in a manufacturing-related environment

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and follow-through.

Ability to meet commitments and adhere to scheduled timelines of deliverables.

Sound understanding of cost accounting principles.

Experience in MS Office software required.

ERP experience with Acumatica is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is required to work onsite in an office/manufacturing environment. In the general office spaces, there is a low-average noise level, reasonable in office settings. In the laboratory, operations and productions areas, the noise level is often high, and temperatures vary depending on type of work performed and season.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time exempt position, requiring overtime, as needed to complete assigned work.

TRAVEL

Light travel may be expected for this position.

COMPENSATION

This position's salary range is $80,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
