Assistant Athletic Trainer

Gardner-Webb University invites applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

This position is a full-time, 12-month position.

Gardner-Webb University competes on the NCAA Division 1 / FCS level as a member of the Big South Conference.

The sporting assignments for this position will be evaluated based on applicant experience and interest..

Responsibilities * Supervise the daily operation of the athletic training room to include developing necessary procedures, schedules and ensure proper use and maintenance of the athletic training equipment.

* Evaluates athletes and sports related injuries, designs and implements athletic training for rehabilitation and reconditioning, establishes a care plan to include necessary activities and athlete education as warranted by the athlete's diagnosis and condition.

* Gathers and interprets appropriate data from the medical record, physician, athlete, and/or family as evidenced by documentation.

* Ensures proper evaluation to determine whether students are physically and mentally able to practice and/or compete in intercollegiate programs.

* Communicates athlete's evaluation and subsequent progress to physician, referral sources, and other clinical staff and coordinates athlete's schedule, treatment programs, discharge planning, and recommends solutions to athlete care problems.

* Documents evaluations, tests, progress reports, daily treatment notes, attendance records, athlete/family education, outcomes, discharge notes, and changes as needed.

* Re-evaluates athletes as needed, modifying goals and treatment as the athlete's status changes.

* Applies strapping, bandaging, or bracing designed to prevent or protect athletes from injury and identifies need for and utilizes appropriate assistive devices.

* Provides and documents athlete in regard to deficits, progress toward goals, and therapeutic techniques, with individualized instruction for a home program.

* Must abide by all NCAA, Big South, and Gardner-Webb University rules and regulations Job Requirements: * BOC Certified and eligible for licensure in the State of North Carolina.

* First Aid, CPR and AED certified * Master's Degree in Athletic Training or related field preferred.

* Previous experience in NCAA athletics preferred.
