Job Summary & Core Responsibilities: The Railcar Repair Technician performs a variety of repairs, rebuilds, modifications and assemblies on various types of railroad freight cars and their parts.

All work performed must meet current AAR and quality assurance guidelines and requirements.

Must be able to pass physical, hair follicle drug test, and background check.

* Perform railcar repairs to FRA and AAR guidelines and customer requirements.

* Interpret job work orders to make appropriate repairs on defective or worn parts or replace them as directed.

* Perform welding and fitting operations for refurbishing or repairing railcars.

* Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours.

* Follow all safety rules, keep work area clean, and comply with all Company policies.

* Perform confined space entries.

* Work from heights.

* Wear a respirator as required.

* Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) * Work with moderate noise levels.

Required Experience / Skills / Qualifications * Good oral and written communication skills * Prior mechanical experience preferred * Minimum of 1-2 years welding experience preferred * Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage time efficiently with the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

* Ability to work under tight time constraints, handle sensitive data, and multi-task so that deadlines can be met.

Required Education / Training / Certifications: * High School Diploma or G.E.D.
