Job Summary

This position has overall responsibility for the timely and accurate reporting of AUM and Revenue across various regions, entities, business areas, asset and product types. Position will require an analytical person who can process and review information for the inclusion in various internal Management and Board level presentations. Position will also require a person with strong ability to multitask and juggle different work activities and shift attention from one task to another. The position will reside in our corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC, or in London office, reporting to the Barings, LLC Chief Accounting Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage a team of 9 full time professionals in Charlotte and London

Oversee the compilation of firmwide assets under management and analysis of data by asset class, strategy, investor type and investor location.

Review the monthly AUM roll forward that is distributed throughout the firm.

Oversee monthly and quarterly revenue and rebate accrual process.

Oversee review of month- and quarter-end revenue and AUM reporting and associate analysis.

Review the quarterly management report that is distributed to the parent company.

Prepare the AUM related sections of the Form ADV for all companies that are registered advisors.

Review and approve the set-up of new portfolios/customers to ensure compliance with the investment management agreement and that the mapping to investment team and strategy is correct.

Review and approve monthly management fee accruals.

Review and approve periodic customer invoices and rebates to investors.

Review revenue accounts that are uploaded to parent company ledger.

Approve monthly inter-company revenue allocations in Workday.

Evaluate and implement appropriate split for new inter-company revenue share portfolios and monitor existing for reasonability.

Respond to numerous ad hoc requests for information from the parent company, legal/compliance, the investment teams, the RFP team, finance and distribution.

Ensure the accurate compilation and reporting of financial data in accordance with local and US GAAP guidance.

Work closely with Accounting Policy team to ensure proper compliance with Revenue standards.

Establish and maintain SOX controls – partnering with Barings controls team and consultants.

Manage relationship with external auditors during annual audits, and interim test work.

Implementation of new accounting standards as needed.

Ad hoc support and analysis for CAO and CFO

Proactively search out ways to improve and streamline processes.

Lead special projects, such as new revenue management system.

Qualifications

At least 10+ years of combined public/private experience in the financial services industry

Proven experience in a managerial capacity is required.

CPA with public accounting experience preferred.

Undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems, Accounting or finance or relevant field is required; a Master’s degree and/or previous experience in an Asset Manager, “Big 4” public accounting firm preferred.

Prior experience working with Revenue/ Rebate systems preferred.

Excellent analytical skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with solid executive presence and the ability to establish credibility.

Demonstrate ability to collaborate across the firm on complex projects and interface credibly with the Board of Directors.

Demonstrated success in implementing accounting and financial review process improvements.
