Responsibilities:

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth has an exciting opportunity for an APC to join our new Neurovascular Program, opening this summer. This APC will support the successful launch of our Neurovascular Program which includes an outpatient clinic and in-hospital procedural and endovascular neurovascular care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work in an autonomous, positive work environment, be motivated to learn from other clinicians to acquire new skills and will thrive working with a collaborative team comprised of 3 Neurosurgeons, 3 Advanced Practice Clinicians and occasionally Neurosurgery residents.

The incoming APC will work primarily with the endovascular/cerebrovascular neurosurgeon in the practice, and will gain exposure and experience in endovascular cases and open cranial neurosurgery cases: endovascular and open treatment of neurovascular disorders, brain tumors and skull base cases, CSF disorders and neurotrauma.

Experienced APC in Endovascular Neurosurgery, preferred

OR and First Assist training, preferred

A blend of inpatient and outpatient Neuro services

Scrub to OR and angio suite, endovascular and open neurosurgery cases and serve as a surgical first assist

Preform some procedures in a supervised manner and with time independently (submitted to credentialing process)

Ability to work independently

Full Time; 5 days per week plus one weekend per month of call

Outpatient clinic 1-2 days per week (No Saturday clinic hours)

Weekday call 1-2 days per week for acute coverage

Shared weekend call coverage, with Attending, one weekend per month

Qualifications:

Education/Experience Required:

Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies and 1 year experience in the relevant setting preferred

Our ideal candidate has 2-5 years of Neurosurgery/Endovascular neurosurgery experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Independently perform basic endo- and neurosurgical procedures

Insertion of an EVD / ICP

Certain aspects of cranial procedures

Get endovascular access and closure

Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record

Current Certification (NCCPA)

Current licensure in the State of Illinois

Current Illinois Controlled Substance License within 6 months of hire

Eligible for DEA registration possession of a current DEA Registration within six months of hire and may vary based on practice site
