About the position:

As the Assistant Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for the safe delivery of inspections, maintenance, and renewals tasks through effective self-performance.

You’ll help lead the performance of works on our Infrastructure assets, finding solutions to improve productivity whilst ensuring all work performed is strictly in accordance with policies and procedures, such as OH&S.

You’ll have strong accountable leadership of your team, coaching and developing staff to build capability, and you’ll also embody the values set out by MTM, ensuring your team behaves in accordance with them.

This role is a permanent full time position rostered for day (7:30am - 5:30pm) and afternoon shifts (1:00pm – 10:30pm) based at our Coburg Depot, Melbourne.

Main duties include:

• Lead repairs, maintenance and renewals of infrastructure assets with the team’s discipline.

• Attend to incidents and faults when escalated, providing support to the Skilled Operatives to rectify as quickly as possible.

• Investigate and prepare technical, administration or any incident report associated with the performance of works.

• Complete all necessary reports, material returns, timesheets, requisitions and claim forms.

• Ensure supply and distribution of necessary materials, planning resources to ensure works are delivered as efficiently as possible.

• Manage depot vehicle maintenance and calibration of tools, ensuring all tools are tagged and tested.

• Lead the team, coaching and developing staff to building capability of the Skilled Operatives and Works Assistants.

• Lead daily pre-work and post-work meetings, driving performance outputs of the team.

• Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with policies and regulations.

About you

• Train Track Safety Awareness Certificate – mandatory.

• Rail Infrastructure (Rail Maintenance) Cert III – mandatory.

• TLIF2082 Perform Hand Signaller duties – mandatory.

• 5 years track work experience – mandatory.

• Track Force Protection Coordinator – desirable.

• Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s license – desirable.

• First Aid Certificate Level 2 – desirable.

• An expert communicator, both verbally and written.

• License to operate at least one of the following:– desirable

-Loader

-Excavator

-Hi-Rail vehicle
