Wieland is hiring a Tax Manager, North America. The Tax Manager, North America is an exciting opportunity in a strongly focused Tax Department reporting directly to the US Director Tax within a matrix organization. This position will lead US national income tax and sales & use tax compliance, reporting and risk mitigation functions for Wieland’s NA national and foreign operations. This position will drive Wieland’s efforts to properly calculate the U.S. international tax provisions, including GILTI, BEAT and FDII. The position manages preparation, review, filing and defense of the U.S. national and international income tax returns, including, but not limited to preparing tax packages, computing E&P, GILTI, Subpart F, foreign tax credit, R&D, LIFO, UNICAP, IRC 174, and identifying transactions that have tax ramifications.

In addition, the central management of sales tax is part of the position. Strong cooperation with the US team, the US finance organization and the business Units as well as with German central tax department for implementing the worldwide tax strategy and worldwide tax planning, including BEPS Pillar Two.

This role is located in Louisville, KY. The ideal candidate will be open to travel to locations across North America. Relocation is available.

Responsibilities

Tax Manager Responsibilities:

Plays key role in the preparation, review and filing of the national income tax returns, including preparing tax packages and deferred tax calculation

Research of complex tax issues proactively, and the person is proficient in interpreting and applying the tax law, regulations, and cases to specific transactions and factual situations, including business development and integration scenarios

Contributes to the development of a strategy to admin the US national tax filing and compliance process using automation to gain efficiencies and ensure completeness and accuracy of the filings.

Close cooperation with the German Headquarter concerning tax planning and tax compliance matters

Cooperation with counterparts in the organization in order to fulfill the regulations for sales tax, after implementation of an excellent software

Executing and owning work-streams for tax projects and programs in order to manage tax data

Assistance of the external review of the annual tax provision by the certified public auditors, main actor for communication with external tax consultants

Oversees the preparation and review of disclosure statements and elections related to international acquisitions, restructuring, and tax planning.

Collaborates internally with inter-company departments to advance tax strategies and ensure compliance with tax laws.

Assists in the identification and management of key risks emanating from international tax operations, compliance, and reporting.

Responses to IRS inquiries on complex topics and analyzes technical positions in IRS audit examinations.

Active management of IRA topics in order to fulfill the requirements for the incentives.

Tax Manager Qualifications:

Combined 12+ years of experience within a Public and Corporate setting, including exposure to international tax.

Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Accounting or business-related field.

CPA (with both Public & Industry experience) preferred.

Strong technical skills and experience in different accounting systems.

Basic understanding of transfer pricing concepts.

Excellent tax IT skills for having the appropriate data for tax function.

Experience with SAP, Oracle, experiences with different accounting and tax software

Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Able to articulate complex tax and accounting concepts.

Managing external resources for specific tax topic adequately with focus of in-house consulting.

Good conceptually, critically thinking, analytical, quantitative skills, and the ability to solve problems.

Excellent organizational and self-management skills.

Team lead for 1-2 persons
