Accounting Manager (Dealership Group)

The Perseus Group, a division of Constellation Software (TSX: CSU), is seeking an Accounting Manager in Markham, Ontario, to manage the core accounting function for one of its verticals. The role will be the primary accounting resource and problem solver. It includes ongoing support and knowledge of accounting policies, financial processes, and accounting systems. This role is an opportunity to be a catalyst for process improvements, oversee all accounting matters, and be part of a growing international conglomerate.

Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations

Manage and oversee general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and revenue recognition.

Assist with the monthly closing process, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Participate in quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit.

Evaluate current practices and procedures and recommend improvements.

Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions.

Collaborate with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.

Demonstrate proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

Engage in continuous improvement processes to automate the Manager’s responsibilities as much as possible.

Assist in maintaining data hygiene for general ledger posting.

Perform ad hoc duties as requested by senior managers.

Team Management

Supervise the offshore accounting team.

Train and organize the finance team that supports the Manager.

Provide mentorship and guidance to direct reports and oversee the goal setting and performance reviews for the contour finance team.

Technical and Educational Qualifications:

3-5 years of professional experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of full-cycle accounting guidance and methodology.

Strong understanding of accounting guidelines, particularly IFRS.

Experience managing or supervising offshore teams.

Ability to manage and prioritize competing deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent written and communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including advanced use of Excel workbooks and PowerPoint.

Experience with Great Plains or other similar programs is a plus.

Financial knowledge in the software / IT field, specifically with financial operations and accounting guidelines.

University Degree in Accounting. CPA is preferred but not required.
