JOB TITLE: Licensing Associate

FLSA: Non-Exempt

FT/PT: Full Time, including weekends

SUMMARY

The Licensing Associate’s role is to help pet owners purchase pet licenses, fulfill license sales, provide excellent customer service, assist the public with general inquires, and share information about Pasadena Humane programs and services.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

Canvass Pasadena Humane's contract cities to enforce animal licensing laws, sell licenses, and promote Pasadena Humane programs and services.

Assist front office operations with license sales and other customer service duties as assigned.

Promote a positive relationship with the public, volunteers, and staff while promoting Pasadena Humane programs, services, and philosophies. Address customer questions and concerns. Ensure a high quality of customer care is given.

Proactively share information with and support customers over the phone, via computer, and in-person about licensing programs.

Assist with proactive programs that address community challenges.

Utilize tact, self-restraint, judgment, and strategy in dealing with a wide variety of people in the field. Analyze situations and apply established procedures and good judgment to address community challenges.

Create and maintain animal and client records through accurate data entry, documents all sales and conversations in approved database.

Keep accurate records by using appropriate filing techniques. Ensure all paper and digital files are kept up to date.

Mail correspondence regarding expired rabies vaccine, expired license, past due notices, issuing of tags, etc.

Assist clients and fellow staff with license questions and processes.

Process payments and handle funds for license sales and other programs as required.

Ask for and accept donations.

Maintain cleanliness and an inviting environment in the office and licensing vehicles.

Ensure a safe working environment and actively participate in Pasadena Humane safety programs.

Participate in special events and functions as assigned.

Attend mobile events on weekdays and weekends.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma (or GED/proficiency certificate).

Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.

Must have a valid class C driver’s license with a clean driving record

Must possess own car and vehicle insurance

Must be able to model Pasadena Humane’s Core Values of Learning, Integrity Collaboration and Kindness.

Must interact positively with supervisor, management, coworkers, volunteers, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Must provide positive, proactive customer service

Must have a positive attitude and a sense of humor

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Must have the physical ability to go door to door in residential neighborhoods for 4+ hour shifts and represent Pasadena Humane at community events in outdoor settings.

Must adhere to Pasadena Humane and Department’s dress and grooming standards.

Ability to work well with the public, volunteers, and fellow staff

Computer literate

Bilingual a plus (Armenian, Spanish, Mandarin, and/or Cantonese).

WORKING CONDITIONS

Fast-paced environment. Employees are exposed to numerous animals (live and deceased), including those with uncertain dispositions. They are required to act safely and responsibly.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This job requires frequent walking (4+ hours a day) and work outdoors in residential neighborhoods and at community events. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch, crawl; talk or hear or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
