Sr. PeopleSoft Developer - HR/Payroll

Technology Services supports the University by providing access to high quality, state-of-the-art, computing, communications, and information resources. The department implements, customizes and maintains an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to best serve the university administrative needs. The department also maintains and manages various specialized ancillary applications to support the specific functional and business process needs of our campus departments and the university.

Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including coding, testing, debugging and installing to support the university's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and business applications systems. Assists with the development and maintenance of ERP and business application systems. Ensures that software and services can be integrated into the ERP system. Designs new modules to improve system efficiency. Works on complex business application projects, develops efficient and effective processes and ensures client requirements are met.

Provides technical support for ERP Systems (PeopleSoft) including testing, design, analysis, software upgrades and problem resolution. Ensures the reliable performance of learning management systems. Troubleshoots and resolves any ERP related hardware, software, user access or other problems. Coordinates new software releases, fixes and upgrades with technical teams and users. Recommends new features or changes to configuration/workflows based on user feedback. Assists in the formulation of procedures and best practices for users of learning management systems and related instructional technology. Lead projects and implementations. Work closely with managed services providers, vendors and contractors. Interface with with IT auditors during audit cycles to provide relevant information and implement suggested solutions and controls.

Seeking an individual with the ability to integrate differing bodies of knowledge in troubleshooting and solving technical problems, including performing root cause analysis and follow up to ensure the issues are addressed at the root level. Learn and adopt new ideas and technologies. Must have great organizational, communication skills and technology awareness.

Responsibilities

Application development, integration, maintenance and management● Develop detailed specifications based on system requirements.● Develop and implement the technical architecture of ancillary applications and interfaces to the ERP environment.● Work closely with the technical teams to develop, configure and maintain system interfaces (internal and external).● Design, and develop custom applications as appropriate using SDLC life cycle management methodologies.● Troubleshoots reported issues and works with the database team to identify root causes and remedies.● Identify and research software patches/fixes for systems.● Perform quality control, assurance and testing on systems.

Participate in new functionality development to ensure secure, elegant and low maintenance data designs are adopted. Activities include:● Work closely with our partners (user groups and departments) to create business process analysis and mapping, and assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement.● Evaluate existing products for enhancements, review new products and services to enhance the overall service management of the application services environment.● Perform analysis to identify systems requirements.● Communicate with users on system development activities.

Administer, maintain and manage the application services environment ● Administer and maintain assigned applications (production and non-production environments) that support and integrate with our ERP environment.● Develop processes for routine maintenance and management tasks related to application administration, monitoring, security administration etc.● Perform and or co-ordinates system upgrades, patching tasks and activities for ancillary application. Troubleshoot and repair system problems.● Create and update system documentation.● Define appropriate metrics to measure performance and ensure metrics are collected, reported and reviewed regularly.● Periodically audit logs and access privileges to ensure appropriate security and privacy of applications and data.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information technology or a related discipline preferred. Seven to ten (7-10) years’ experience as an Application Developer or Systems Developer accepted in lieu of degree.

● 5-7 years minimum experience in application analysis, design, software development, systems implementation with demonstrated strong performance● Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft technologies - PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Application Engine, SQR, Integration Broker, etc.● Demonstrated experience as a SQL developer: writing SQL code, scripts and using report tools● Experience developing interfaces between ERP and ancillary applications (hosted, cloud-based) using PeopleSoft Technologies - Application Engine/SQR, and web services etc. )And one or both of the following:● Experience developing and maintaining ERP applications (PeopleSoft, Banner or similar) ● Experience installing and configuring COTS applications in a multi-tier environment, including integration with ERP applications.

Desired Experience: ● Project planning and project management experience desired.● Experience with PeopleSoft Finance 9.2, PeopleSoft HRMS 9.2 and/or Campus Solutions 9.2● Higher education experience is a plus.● Excellent ability to organize information, manage tasks and use available tools to effectively contribute to the organization.

Knowledge of, and materially demonstrable skills and experience in implementing, configuring and applying, the following:● IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices.● Information security principles and methods.● Application installation, configuration and administration in a multi-tier environment.● Software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles, methods, and practices.● Integration of technology with pedagogy.● Operational task automation through programming and scripting principles and methods.● Performance monitoring principles and methods.● Relational database principles, methods, and practices.● Principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources.

Experience implementing and configuring the following technologies is a plus:● Cloud based applications and services- SaaS, PaaS, IaaS (especially Amazon Web Services)

These certifications are highly desirable:● Oracle PeopleTools Tools and Technology, e.g., PeopleTools Certified Implementation Specialist

One or more of the following certifications is desirable:● Project management certification, e.g., PMP● Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional● Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Data Platform [SQL Server]● Information security certification, e.g., CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CASP, CISSP.
