Role Summary:
The Senior Safety Engineer will lead a number of key initiatives as part of the quality department at Electrify America. The role will report to the Manager, Quality System & Safety and will oversee all program safety for the company including root cause analysis, process improvements, vendor management, and overall safety practices. The candidate will be an experienced professional with industry level safety expertise and technical acumen related to complex products and services. Ideal candidate is one who is highly motivated to participate in a rapidly emerging and industry and will have experience working in an safety role in high-tech related industry where the pace of innovation requires constant problem-solving to ensure a safe and reliable performance of technical assets.
Responsibilities of the position will include oversight of safety program with relevant oversight of design, manufacturing, and operational requirements related to safety. During new product introduction this individual will engage in design reviews of hardware and software working with our quality and technology teams to ensure all safety requirements are met in products and service delivery. They will drive best in class incident reporting and create a system of documentation and compliance. Candidate will have the ability to evaluate mechanical, electrical, and communications systems operational risk profiles by leveraging years of industry experience to determine appropriate solutions and drive implementation.
Role Responsibilities:
Main responsibility – assign 80% of time spent
Performs technical and administrative duties in general safety, industrial hygiene, OSHA compliance, emergency preparedness and response, environmental and waste management
Develop and implement emergency response plan for COE lab and EA charging sites, Electrical Safety Programs including but not limited to: Lock Out Tag Out Program, HAZCOM, Forklift/Mobile Equipment Program, PPE Program, Elevated Work Program etc.
Ensures that safety training, emergency preparedness, and loss control programs comply with external standards in content and annual scheduling
Maintains accountability of assigned areas and provides functional direction and/or training in application of occupational health, compliance and safety programs
Keep current with EH&S practitioners and/or organizations to ensure regulatory interpretation, technical advice, Institute policies are in compliance
Actively participate in internal and external EHS audits
Perform yearly safety drills ex. Fire
Additional responsibilities – 20% of time
Develop content and oversee deployment of training program ensuring compliance on training completion for all field and network operations as well as internal staff.

Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline such as engineering
