Overview:

DV is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team based in Chicago. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in driving our Linux, virtualization, and cloud capabilities forward, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance our IT operations.

Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain our multi-vendor storage infrastructure, including SAN, NAS, and object storage systems, ensuring high availability and performance.

Design, implement, and optimize storage solutions to meet the evolving needs of the organization, including capacity planning and performance tuning.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate storage solutions with Windows and Linux environments, ensuring compatibility and seamless operation.

Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies for critical data stored across various storage platforms.

Troubleshoot storage-related issues and performance bottlenecks, implementing solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

Automate storage provisioning, monitoring, and reporting tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Conduct regular health checks and proactive maintenance activities to ensure the stability and security of storage systems.

Work closely with vendors to evaluate new storage technologies and solutions, providing recommendations for adoption based on business requirements.

Document storage configurations, procedures, and best practices, ensuring knowledge transfer and continuity within the team.

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on storage-related projects and initiatives.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

5+ years of experience in managing enterprise storage solutions, with expertise in multiple storage vendors such as EMC, NetApp, Dell EMC, etc.

In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, including experience with system administration, scripting, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in storage protocols and technologies, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, and object storage.

Hands-on experience with storage management tools and utilities, such as SAN/NAS management software, performance monitoring tools, and backup solutions.

Strong understanding of storage architecture, including RAID configurations, data deduplication, compression, and tiered storage.

Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and their integration with storage systems.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex storage issues and implement effective solutions.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels.

Relevant certifications such as EMC Proven Professional, NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA), or similar credentials are a plus.
