Field Mechanic

Job Description

A Field Mechanic will repair vehicles, equipment, and machinery by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:

Must be prepared to travel

Crawls under or climbs in or on vehicles or equipment for maintenance and repair inspections

Repairs, removes, and replaces moving parts and other components of vehicles, equipment, or machinery

Disassembles, repairs, removes, and replaces parts of engines, transmissions, drive assemblies, brakes, and clutches of vehicles, equipment, or machinery

Tunes, adjusts, and regulates equipment engines, valves, pumps, carburetors, and other mechanical components with variable settings

Lubricates and services vehicles, equipment, or machinery and maintains accurate records of such service

Requests repair parts and lubrication supplies as needed

Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety standards

When not performing the above-mentioned essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor

Requirements:

Certificate from college or technical school; or twelve months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

A good driving record is required.

Repeat tasks of short duration according to set procedures and evaluate information using measurable standards

Stand, sit, or walk for long periods.

Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects

Stoop, kneel, and crouch

See and hear well (either naturally or with correction)

Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
