The Development Associate will assist the New Business Development Unit with administrative, compliance, logistics and research support. The development team works across IREX’s Practices (Education; Communities and Governance; Information and Media; Youth; and Leadership) to produce proposals for US, Bilateral, Multilateral and other donors.

Your Background & Skills

Bachelor’s Degree.

6+ months of work experience.

Demonstrated commitment to a career in international development, with at least 1 year of professional experience preferred (work experience may include a combination of part-time or internships).

Proven experience managing multiple administrative tasks in a demanding, time sensitive work environment.

Proven organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Demonstrated capability to work independently and as part of a team, to take initiative, and meet deadlines within strict time constraints.

Experience with procurement and invoicing systems and processes preferred.

Excellent writing and editing skills.

Comfort with numbers and budgets, and facility with Excel.

Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

Ability to professionally communicate with a wide range of partners, experts, and other contacts.

Speaking, reading and writing proficiency in English required.

Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Your Daily Tasks

Conduct research on existing programming, potential competitors, country contexts, possible partners, design approaches, potential personnel, and other assignments.

Assist in all aspects of consultant and vendor procurement, including drafting agreements, securing internal approvals, and processing invoices.

Draft newsletters, capacity statements, past performance, and other tasks as assigned.

Review budgets for mathematical accuracy.

Assist in preparation of staffing documents for proposals.

Assist with editing, proofreading, and formatting.

Assist with data entry, cleaning, and management for NBDU’s CRM.

Provide logistics support for the team.

Complete other administrative tasks as needed.

As needed, support coordination of statements of interest, requests for information, concept notes, or other small proposal efforts.

Support external partner meetings to discuss strategy, design as needed.

Liaise with partners to collect required proposal documents and deliverables, as needed.

Review budgets for mathematical accuracy.

Other duties as assigned.

This position is eligible for Telework. The eligible employee is regular, full-time DC-based staff who works from a worksite outside the DC office for one or more days a week.
