Essential Function:

Maintains equipment such as cutting saws, CZ growers, DSS furnaces and support equipment to specifications as part of a maintenance group so as to verify that equipment meet requirements to produce quality material for Silfex and customers. The person in this position is expected to use effective technical mathematics and measurement tools in the performance of tasks. This person will monitor and service all mechanical and electrical systems in the Crystal Growth area. Provides various support functions such as maintaining spares inventories, modifying equipment, improving equipment performance and reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Know and understand specification criteria prior to performing maintenance functions.

Read and understand procedures and work instructions.

Execute preventive maintenance tasks per procedures.

Maintain coolant systems and machine filtration systems.

Properly handle materials.

Complete associated paperwork.

Develop and maintain job proficiency.

Perform tasks in both group and individual environments.

Manage time effectively.

Keep technical skills and knowledge up-to-date.

Ensure the cleanliness and order of maintenance area applying 5S concepts.

Perform all work related tasks in a safe manner and report any unsafe conditions to Silfex Management.

Utilize ERP system to track downtime, spare parts, projects, PM and other tasks.

Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate.

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical devices.

Provide improvement ideas and detailed description of equipment issues to Operations, Supervisor, Engineering, acting as a liaison.

Provide detail and describe process improvement ideas to fellow team members, Supervisor, Engineering, and Operations, acting as a liaison.

Carry out special projects and all other appropriate and reasonable duties that may be assigned from time to time.

2-4 years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician working in a manufacturing facility

Associate degree in industrial maintenance with emphasis in electrical or electromechanical technology preferred.

Experience desired: familiar with CZ growers, DSS furnaces, band saws, Blanchard, lifts, cooling water systems, power systems, PLC control systems.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers, or other departments of the organization.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts using basic math.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to safely carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment.

Must be able to pay close attention to details.

Must be able to assess and use drawings and specifications for machines and control systems.

Must be able to perform safely and successfully under minimum supervision.

Must be able to attain sufficient task success to establish credibility with management, staff and employees.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to strong magnetic fields, work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
