Role: The RN Preceptor plans, coordinates and carries out educational opportunities for the Organization's Registered Nurses (RNs). S/he orients the nurses to their role within the interdisciplinary team; evaluates job performance using competency checklist to ensure each new nurse has successfully acquired knowledge and skills essential to providing patient care. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred * Current Florida license as RN, current active single-state out-of-state nurse license, or current active multistate/compact nurse license * Minimum three (3) years' experience in the role of a RN * Tenure at a Chapters' affiliate of one (1) year preferred * Certification from HPNA obtained within two (2) years of taking the position * Mobile Driver - Valid driver's license and automobile insurance per Company policy * Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule * Previous experience working with an EMR/EHR (Electronic Medical/Health Record) system required * Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms * Ability to effectively communicate in English (verbal and written) * Flexible schedule to meet the needs of hospice patients * Ability to physically access any home (i.e., navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning) in any area Company serves * Ability to manage the emotional stress of working with and caring for terminally ill patients and their families * Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting patients and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation * Must remain in good standing from a performance perspective in providing nursing services to patients * Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross. Employees hired prior to 12/31/2022 must obtain certificate prior to 10/1/2023 Competencies: * Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position. Job Responsibilities: * Completes Preceptor Training Program and associated update classes. * Introduces RNs to team and work environment. * Assists the new RNs in identifying personal learning styles and needs. * Plans for and provides relevant learning experiences that mirror standards of care and Company's core values. * Promotes development of critical thinking and clinical judgement using appropriate adult learning styles. * Demonstrates safe patient care adhering to Company's policies and procedures. * Orients RNs to role and performance expectations in hospice or home health setting. * In Coordination with affiliate management, validates competency of RNs in performance and documentation of care. Provides constructive feedback that recognizes limitations and plans for opportunities to improve. * Submits timely documentation, as needed, during preceptor experience, to Manager and Training and Development Department. Contributes information to clinical leadership and Training and Development regarding preceptor process. * Performs other duties as assigned.
