Job Title:Grid-Edge Customer Technologies Researcher

Location:Knoxville, TN

Job Summary and Description:

Provide support to Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Program Managers within the PDU lab in Knoxville, with a focus on work within the Grid Edge Customer Technologies, Lighting, Thermal and Indoor Agriculture Lab. This is an in-person position in the Knoxville, TN office, although hybrid work arrangements may be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include performing engineering and scientific services that may include test set up, testing evaluation, and test operation on HVAC systems, water heating systems, lighting technologies, lighting controls, robots, data center, indoor agriculture, smart street lighting and smart home technologies / connected appliances under the direct supervision of EPRI’s Grid Edge Customer Technology team.

Position responsibilities will include data analysis including data interpretation, creating charts and graphs and management of data transfer to other team members.

The candidate needs to be able to write fluently and feel comfortable with direct in person communication with other team members and project collaborators

Education and Experience:

Degree in engineering (preferably computer, electrical, industrial, or mechanical engineering), or other technical fields (computer science, math, physics, etc.), with focus on electrical energy, energy efficiency, lighting, controlled environment agriculture, residential and commercial technologies, thermal systems, data centers, robotics, and/or building control systems preferred.

Experience with technology evaluation, laboratory testing, engineering design, utility program development and implementation, or new business development in energy related fields a plus

Past experience with wiring basic electrical circuits a plus.

Ideal candidate would have 2+ years of experience, but a highly skilled recent university or college graduate with a engineering or technical degree will be considered

Skills:

Experience with Excel or Matlab is required.

Candidates with Tableau experience preferred.

Strong interpersonal skills, motivated self-starter, detail oriented, good communicator, able to follow defined testing methods, safety minded, able to work with moderate supervision after tasks are assigned.

Trainability, strong work ethic, and adaptability are keys to success.

The salary range for this position is $65,550 USD to $76,650 USD annually.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
