(Eligibility may vary, depending on position). BCFSA is seeking a talented and collaborative Stakeholder Engagement Specialist to help develop and implement our stakeholder engagement strategy for complex regulatory projects.

In this role you will report to the Manager of Stakeholder Engagement while also working closely to engage with, build, and maintain cross-functional relationships with internal project teams, government officials, and external stakeholders.

You will be accountable for supporting the delivery of our engagement strategies with a strong focus on building relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate successful outcomes for various engagement activities and initiatives.

This is a great role for a professional communications and engagement practitioner who is looking to grow and build their experience contributing to high-impact projects in a complex regulatory environment.

SUMMARY The position is responsible for the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies, opportunities, approaches, and initiatives to enhance awareness, understanding and support for BCFSA.

As the ideal candidate you have some experience in working on large, complex projects involving multiple working groups, coupled with strong organizational and project management skills.

A collaborative spirit is essential, along with excellent communication and presentation skills, and a readiness to assist whenever necessary.

Experience in organizing and managing conferences and events, as well as familiarity with the sectors regulated by BCFSA or the broader financial services sector, will be advantageous.

Post-secondary education with experience in stakeholder relations, public engagement, communications, government relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, IAP2 Certification and training is an asset.

ACCOUNTABILITIES • Develops and delivers stakeholder engagement plans and tactics in accordance with the stakeholder engagement strategy.

• Manages stakeholder mapping, prepares communications to stakeholders and responds to stakeholder enquiries.

• Coordinates and manages stakeholder impact repository.

• Provides strategic advice on issues management, stakeholder communications and engagement initiatives.

• Collaborates with Communications team members as appropriate on the development and dissemination of regulatory guidance, advisories, news releases, opinion editorials, trade publication articles, social media content and other stakeholder communications.

• Develops and/or sources tracking systems to log and manage incoming and outgoing stakeholder requests.

• Collaborates internally to identify trends, best practices, consumer education pieces that can be compiled for sharing externally.

• Engages with, builds and maintains relationships with government officials, media, and other stakeholders.

• Collaborates as appropriate with Communications team members on the development and delivery of communications for internal stakeholders.

• Coordinates the formal consultation requests and supporting materials.

• Coordinates Advisory and/or Consumer group sessions.

• Contributes to the team’s development of internal work practices (e.g., policies, procedures and tools). • Provides orientation and training to internal and/or external stakeholders within area of responsibility.

• Contributes to, participates in, and supports organizational business transformation initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS • Media relations training.

• Experience working with public stakeholders.

• Experience working in sectors BCFSA regulates.

• Ability to identify emerging media issues.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communications skills.

• Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Must be willing to work outside of regular office hours when needed.

• Travel, and absence from home overnight, may be required on occasion.

• Applicants must be able to successfully meet the BCFSA’s security screening requirements.

EDUCATION • Degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism with considerable experience managing issues and providing strategic communications advice or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
