General Laborer/Saw Operator

Job Description

ShopSabre has an immediate opening for a General Laborer/Saw Operator who is an energetic team player with a can-do attitude. Our general laborers/saw operators are involved in operating, managing, and maintaining large-scale steel and aluminum cutting equipment. This role involves managing work and parts needed for assembly, performing preventative maintenance tasks, and communicating with teammates and supervisors. Qualified candidates will have experience working in manufacturing and have knowledge of lean manufacturing processes. Applicants must have good basic math and mechanical skills and know how to read a tape measure.

Requirements and Skills:

· Ability to read and interpret drawings, prints, and other specs.

· Lay out, align, secure, and prioritize material

· Knowledge and expertise of steel and aluminum cutting

· Experience operating saw and metal fabrication equipment highly valued

· Will need to maintain steel inventory using steel requisition forms, reading purchase orders, verifying delivered steel, and reporting shortages.

· Responsible for organizing steel for specific orders and stock

· Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve equipment downtime

· Ability to use power tools (grinders, drills, taps, impacts, saws, etc.)

· Set up and operate a band saw

· Perform routine maintenance on the band saw

· Willingness to perform a variety of tasks ranging from loading and unloading trucks to measuring steel and handling scrap

· Extreme attention to detail

· Experience in operating a forklift (can provide training if needed)

· Ability to follow directions and retain information

· Ability to collaborate with others to analyze and solve issues

· Ability to work independently; Reliable & dependable

· Must be able to lift 50lbs and stand for the entirety of the shift

· Frequent heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling

· Previous manufacturing and band saw experience is preferred
