Position Summary: Prepares nutritional and appealing meals for Sisters, staff, guests, and for special functions and events.

Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and General Duties

Uses or can change standardized recipes accurately to prepare nutritious and appetizing foods.

Stores food items according to safety standards.

Distributes food at appropriate times.

Demonstrates skill in use and care of food production equipment.

Place food orders in the absences of the Head Cook or Director.

Call-in staff as needed in the absences of Head Cook or Director.

Safety and Sanitation

Maintains work area in orderly, sanitary manner.

Completes assigned cleaning tasks in a thorough, timely manner

Demonstrates knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness.

Adheres to all safety and sanitation policies of the department.

Assists in care and maintenance of equipment.

Personal and Interpersonal Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for professional growth and self-development.

Complies with personnel and departmental policies.

Attends and participates in department meetings, in-services, and/or continuing education programs.

Assumes responsibility for working scheduled hours.

Performs related duties as needed.

Essential Physical Functions:

· Repeated bending and /or stooping 50-75% of the time during shift.

· Frequent lifting of 2-25 pounds 80-100% of the time during shift.

· Occasional lifting of 25-50 pounds 5-15% of the time during shift.

· Frequent pushing and/or pulling of 35-75 pounds 75-85% of time during shift.

· Occasional pushing and/or pulling 75-100 pounds 10-20 % of time during shift.

· Able to stand for 80-100% of time during shift.

· Being exposed to extreme temperatures of -0 degrees, 5-10% of time during shift.

Degree of Supervision: Direct or close supervision; follows specific and defined procedures and instructions (verbal or written), is told what solutions to work for, and does only routine work. Occasional direction of other staff.

Level of Interpersonal Skills Required: Normal. Must be able to exchange information on factual matters, greet residents and visitors, and so forth. Ordinary courtesy and tact required.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Requirements: Normal or routine. Analytical ability is required in order to gather and interpret data, but in situations where the problems are normal and routine. The analysis or interpretation is based primarily on factual data where established methods or procedures or specific instructions can be followed. Precedents are readily available.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma

Certification: None

Experience: One to two years of experience as a cook. Must have good knowledge of basic

principles of mathematics.

Physical Exertion: Heavy. See essential Physical function above.

Visual Attention: Normal observation necessary.

Exemplify a caring, cheerful behavior and effective interpersonal relationships.

Be willing to maintain a helpful, respectful, and courteous manner with all residents, visitors,

and staff.

10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
