Career Strategy Consultants is seeking an Operations (VAR) Manager for a Global Metals Manufacturing Corporation near Philadelphia, PA. This is a full-time permanent (Direct Hire) position. Our client will offer a highly competitive base salary plus an extremely lucrative quarterly bonus structure. SUMMARY

Manage and direct VAR Shop and melted product shipping operations to meet delivery commitments, quality and specification requirements, financial (cost) commitments, safety goals, and continuous process and product improvements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, coach, discipline, promote and terminate personnel. Some of these activities will be conducted jointly with the Melt Manager & the Supervisor; and interviews, hires, disciplines, promotions, and terminations will be coordinated through the Manager, Human Resources.

Assists the Melt Manager in developing short-term & long-term goals, for the Production, Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement success of the VAR Melt Shop department.

Support the Project Manager on melt related projects.

Develop and implement Standard Operating and Manufacturing Procedures.

Develop and implement melt profiles to maximize product quality and furnace productivity.

Review work order instructions, quality planning items, blend sheets, prior chemistry reports and other data as necessary to ensure accurate direction of work crews.

Collect in-process and product data and analyze to verify conformance to procedures and specifications

Lead or participate in continuous improvement to processes (quality), equipment and maintenance (maximize reliability, melt time), including recording of data and data analysis for measurement of melt center performance, and develop into written standard procedures. Specifically drive the 6-S effort in the VAR.

Develop and work to budgets to achieve cost management goals, and initiate or participate in cost reduction and/or profit improvement programs

Develop and work to attain productivity, delivery performance and yield goals

Manage engineering projects as assigned relating to capacity expansions, new technology and/or equipment-based process improvements

Maintain an effective preventative maintenance program. Assist in problem solving for unplanned downtime.

Maintain adequate spares and supplies to meet schedules. Develop and maintain outside resources as needed.

Issue monthly and weekly reports documenting "key" operational performance, achievements, projects, training, and maintenance work.

Oversee process work order flow for timely & effective completion.

Accept weekend and holiday assignments as required.

Effectively communicate company and department goals, achievements, problems, solutions, practices, changes, and policies. Encourage positive communication. Enforce all company policies, rules and regulations.

Conduct all operations in a safe and clean environment. Enforce all safety rules and regulations. Constantly be proactive in minimizing accidents.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from four-year college or university and minimum of 3 years of related experience. (BSEE preferred)

Furnace construction management experience a plus Titanium experience would be very helpful (desired – not required).

Ability and desire to manage a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week manufacturing operation.

Ability to work overtime as needed work with back-shift personnel, solve problems, and respond to emergencies.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Statistical knowledge/experience desired, and ISO9000 experience is helpful
